The Madness of March has settled, but the echoes of its exhilarating finale still resonate in our latest episode. Joined by friend of the show 3Rose, we dissect the spectacular close of the collegiate basketball season. Standing ovations are in order for Jodi Bennett, who for the second year running clinched victory in our Locked in Madness Bracket Challenge. But that's just the tip of the iceberg! We cover everything from the WNBA draft buzz to the NBA play-in tournament and playoffs, while also glancing at the MLB season and the NHL playoffs on the horizon. As we recount our personal triumphs and stumbles in the bracket challenge, listeners can sense the camaraderie and shared passion for the game.
This episode glows with admiration for the women's college basketball tournament, where athletes not only played but inspired. We spotlight the undeniable influence of players like Caitlyn Clark and Angel Reese on younger generations, foreseeing a bright future for stars like Juju Watkins. Special praise is reserved for the exceptional South Carolina team, led by the legendary Coach Dawn Staley, whose historic undefeated run demands more limelight. Amid the excitement, we don't forget to analyze the critical three-pointer from Camila Cardoso in the SEC tournament—a defining moment that turned the tide.
Lastly, we ignite a debate that's as hot as a game-day showdown: who are the greatest women's basketball players of all time? Would you place Caitlin Clark alongside the likes of Diana Taurasi or Maya Moore? Does Candice Parker's legacy at Tennessee outshine Breanna Stewart's accolades? We grapple with these questions, acknowledging how media perceptions can skew our views and spark ongoing discussions among fans and analysts. So lace up your sneakers and join us for a heart-pumping discussion on the true legends of women's college basketball.

Speaking of, you know, march Madness, brackets and all that, how'd y'all do with y'all brackets?
Speaker 1I was terrible Mine was decent.
Speaker 3I was at the top of the men's bracket for, like, I was first for a little bit, you were, and then I think I finished. I think I finished either seventh or ninth one of them, so a couple of people took off in front of me. My women's bracket did decent as well. I was leading in that one as well. Uh, des actually had a free. Yeah, he had a free women's bracket. You could win ten dollars if you, you know, if you won, and I think I came in third place on that one. So, um, I didn't do too bad. Yeah, yeah, uh, you pleased with it.
Speaker 3Huh, you pleased with it.
Speaker 4I'm pleased with my brackets, Honestly.
Speaker 3I think I did. I think this was probably my best bracket.
Speaker 4Yeah.
Speaker 1Actually Shay Arnick won my women's bracket too.
Speaker 2Man, she, she owned it man.
Speaker 1Shout out, shay.
Speaker 2Yeah, because you just be. You say you're going to ride and die with Kansas.
Speaker 1Kansas for the men's and then the women's until Juju leave. I'm picking USC. That's crazy.
Speaker 2Well, my men's bracket. I had several, some had Houston winning, some had UConn winning and one had Gonzaga, but the one that mattered did not have UConn winning, so I ended up. Was I in top 10 in Rose's bracket. I don't remember Anyway of course my girls bracket was fairly well. South Carolina, of course, duh.
Speaker 4But other than that.
Speaker 2Yeah, I guess I did okay this season. I can't complain. Well, since we're already on this subject, bitch, go ahead and drop that beat. All right on this subject, bitch, go ahead. Drop that beat, alright. So let's go on and get into it. The March Madness the men.
Speaker 3Let's talk about the men first.
Speaker 2Let's go on and get the men out the way you know. How'd y'all feel? What was it like which I want to get into with that?
Speaker 1shout out UConn. I ain't going to lie to y'all, I didn't watch much of it. But shout out UConn. I know they're back-to-back champions you got to respect it Deserving. Until Kansas get back on top. It's going to be a while. It's going to be a while.
Speaker 3I know a lot of people had UCon come winning the whole thing. They were pretty much the heavy favorite going into the tournament and they took care of business. Back-to-back championships for them. I mean, you know, special for them. And so, yeah, like Three Rose said, I didn't really watch much of the men's tournament. I tried to watch as much of it as I could because when it first started there were so many games on at one time man, including the women and the men and so, like I'm trying to go back and forth and watch, watch it all, because you never really want to miss a moment. Uh, during March madness, because so many amazing things happen, yeah, uh. But uh, shout out to UConn. I actually in my main bracket, I actually had Purdue winning. I mean, they were in the championship game and you know, edie, you know kind of carried them throughout the tournament, but UConn was victorious in the end. So shout out to UConn for winning the 2024 national championship.
Speaker 2Yeah, shout out UConn. Before we move over to the women, was there any surprise teams that kind of caught y'all? I mean for me it was NC State. Yeah, I was just going to say I think that's probably everybody's, I think that's going to be the consensus, but y'all can elaborate if y'all want.
Speaker 3NC State. And then who else? Off the top of my head, I can't think of nobody else. That was just surprising to me because I had most of the higher schools moving on man.
Speaker 2Surprising to me Because I had most of the higher schools moving on man them football schools Surprising Alabama, Clemson, oh yeah, Alabama.
Speaker 3Yeah, alabama for sure, clemson for sure. Yeah, yeah, so yeah, shout out to those. Those are the surprising teams to me. What about you, rose?
Speaker 1I was just going to suggest NC State to me. I like DJ. It was yeah, yeah, he nice man.
Speaker 3Big boy yeah.
Speaker 1He real nice.
Speaker 3Yeah, he's nice. For his size right, but I don't know if I'll see him going to the NBA.
Speaker 1No, he not he may be drafted. I mean he probably be in somebody's deal. Yeah, you know, like Kenny Lofton, right, he not going to be like top 10 pick, but he?
Speaker 3definitely made an impact on the tournament.
Speaker 1No disrespect, DJ Byrne. Yeah, no disrespect. Of course no, not at all.
Speaker 3First, time I had ever heard about him.
Speaker 2Honestly, was this tournament? No same, All right, Well shoot. Well, let's get to what everybody want to talk about. Let's talk about the women.
Speaker 3The women March Madness, women's college basketball period, it was up. What it was definitely up this season um, it was. What was amazing to me was just to see all of the chatter, all of the talk from celebrities to professional sports players to you, you know, just the general public, like just talking about the excitement of the women's college tournament, and it just goes to show you that the women's game is like it's really growing.
Speaker 3It is growing rapidly, though Like it's crazy. But you know it had a lot to do with the star power on the women's side, you know, from Kaylinark to angel reese, to cardoso, to um flage johnson I mean there's so many rakia jackson, uh.
Speaker 2hannah hildago, juju um juju watkins yeah, juju watkins, the fresh, the fresh yeah, I'm like jujuuju Swinson, no, juju Watkins, the freshman phenom Diagea Fair.
Speaker 3I mean, it was so many names that you could just it was just crazy, I don't know so shout out to them.
Speaker 2It was exciting.
Women's College Basketball Tournament Analysis
Speaker 3Yeah, how y'all feel about it.
Speaker 2Man like the season or just the tourney.
Speaker 3I mean just in general.
Speaker 2In general, no man, this season was up. I think it was a good carryover from last year. It was. It was, like you said, a lot of chatter, good and bad, right, and we'll talk about the bad a little bit later. But no, I'm excited the direction of what the girls' game is going, where the girls' game is going, it's going to inspire the younger girls to be like oh shoot, I want to be like Caitlyn, let me start shooting like Caitlyn.
Speaker 2Or I want to be low, like a Cardosa or whatever, like giving them something to, I guess, inspire to be or have something to look up to. I think that's amazing man, like you said, it just was way more star power on the women's side than it was on the men, think I think that's amazing man, like you said, it just was way more star power on the on the women's side than it was on the men's. So I think that was easier for the general public to keep up. Go ahead.
Speaker 3Just to mention a couple of more people. How could I forget Paige Beckers, cameron Brink, I mean it's, it was so many, it was just stacked, you know. So if I didn't mention you know some names, please don't shoot me, but it was just a lot of girls to talk about this year.
Speaker 1How do you feel, rose? Yeah, I love the Women's Tournament. I actually watched the Women's Tournament and it was a lot of good games and good star players everywhere. But my biggest takeaway from it was I know this is going to be a hot take, but to me, juju Watkins was the best player in that tournament. Juju Watkins was the best player in that tournament. Juju Watkins is the best player in that tournament.
Speaker 1Why you think that you gotta have facts back in the book Getting that team involved. I know Clark knew the same thing. I just feel like Juju had as much time as Clark did in the college basketball. But y'all gonna see when Juju gets to the WNBA. Of course She'll be a better player.
Speaker 2She gonna be different.
Speaker 3Yeah, no I'm riding with you. We got some time for that.
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah, yeah she only a freshman yeah, yeah I like juju. Um, what else about this tournament?
Speaker 3man, that really stood out to y'all like what just just the fact that south carolina again was just dominant. I'll go there first. Uh, south carolina was just dominant, and you know um from the beginning of the season. Whenever they play notre dame in that first game in paris, real quick bills because I don't like what the national media is doing in south carolina.
Speaker 2they are an undefeated team. I feel like it hadn't been yelled loud enough, so can we just give South Carolina their flowers real quick? Oh yeah, definitely. Well, they went 38-0? I think it was either 36 or 37-0.
Speaker 2Okay well, they didn't lose a game all season, at all period, okay, and they've only lost three games in three years. Yeah, that's true, I understand the Kalen Clark hype, I get it. But we also need to give props to South Carolina, because that's not an easy feat. Nope, you have to really be disciplined, you have to really want to be a winner. To not win, I mean not to lose any game.
Speaker 4Yeah so.
Speaker 2ESPN Bleacher Report. Who else ESPNW? You know all you big time sports reporters and stuff like that. Put some respect on South Carolina's Knackers.
Speaker 3They've gone 109 in three in the last three seasons.
Speaker 2That is crazy. You mean to tell me that's not being shouted out from the mountaintops? Yeah, huh, I wonder why. Yeah, but I ain wonder why.
Speaker 3Yeah, but I ain't going to go there To confirm they went 38-0. 38-0. This season, that's crazy.
Speaker 2That's crazy. That should be everywhere, Everywhere, Like that's.
Speaker 3It's not unheard of, but it's kind of unheard of the last time I see a team be this dominant was those UConn years. The last time I see a team be this dominant was those UConn years. The last time that they went undefeated Yep, and I believe that was whenever dang Breonna Stewart was there. I believe they won four national championships while she was there, wow. So, but and I'm not, I don't know, I'm not saying that whole entire run they went undefeated, but that was the last time I remember them having an undefeated season. So, yeah, shout out to South Carolina and everything they did for winning a national championship. And it's crazy because in the SEC tournament, camila Cardoso had hit that three-pointer to save like their undefeated season.
Speaker 2Oh yeah, against Tennessee.
Speaker 3Yep to take them to the SEC championship game. So again, shout-out to South Carolina, shout-out to Coach Dawn Staley and just shout-out to all of those players over there in South. And just what she's doing like it's just amazing with them, it's crazy. And of course they've been on their little celebration tour. It looked like they've been living their best life.
Speaker 2And celebration tour. It looked like they've been living their best life. Shout out to them, Alright.
Speaker 1What did you guys think? That's it. Congratulations to South Carolina. Really, really, really.
Speaker 2Shout out Don Staley man, go Go. Status.
Speaker 3The fact that they started off number six, ranked number six at the beginning of the season, they took it personal. Definitely took it personal. Right after that first game they was ranked number one.
Speaker 2Went over there to Paris and got back in first place.
Speaker 3Ain't that crazy, that's crazy. So yeah, shout out to them.
Speaker 2Man, another thing, I guess the whole. Well, I guess this will take us into, you know, kaitlyn Clark and Angel Reese and the star power. I know that's what we was talking on. How did y'all feel, though?
Speaker 4like okay, let's okay, let me run, let's run rewind back caitlyn clark.
Speaker 1She's a dog yes yeah, most definitely, yeah, yeah, I think she's a dog?
Speaker 4yes, um.
Speaker 2Can you run down her stats for me, please?
Speaker 3or run down yes, so caitlin, as y'all know, is now headed to the wmba. Um, but she had an illustrious uh college career. I mean, her college career was amazing. So she was a two-time ap player of the year. Uh, she was a three-time big 10 player of the year, two-time naismith player of the year. Um, she also raised 100k plus for local food pantry. Um, she had two viewership records, uh, during the tournament um, nil pioneered with nike gatorade and state farm, which is crazy. Those are big time companies. Um, most career points in ncaa tournament history history and she's also the NCAA women's hoop all time leading scorer and I believe she is like the division one all time leading scorer period. I don't think that was on the list, but yeah, I mean Kaelin is nice. She had a really, really, really great college career. So I mean what y'all think.
Speaker 2I mean I agree she did well think. I mean I agree she did Well, obviously she had been scoring those points as a freshman and a sophomore.
Speaker 3Of course Really.
Speaker 2I think Kaitlyn is a dog. I think she'll do well in WNBA. I know we're not there yet, but yeah, she had a great, great college career, by far, I guess, the leading score of both men and women. So I mean you can't argue with that you cannot, but I do see some you know some flaws in her game.
Speaker 3Okay.
Speaker 2She's a good passer. I don't think she's a good penetrator. I don't think she just comes down that lane like that. From the games I've watched Now I haven't watched a lot of Iowa games in the regular season, but as far as some of the games I watched in the tourney, she's not a penetrating guard from what I can tell. I could be wrong.
Speaker 3So I believe the last episode I said that one thing that she would have to improve was her handle. And just watching her in this tournament, she, she actually has a pretty decent handle. It's really not bad, especially um, with her teammates setting screens for her and getting around the screen. And also the thing about it is, even if she gets stopped on the drive, like she's a really good passer, right, right, it helps. Now I only I only see her handle game getting better as she gets, you know, deeper into the WNBA. But I mean, her game is definitely going to improve and she was already doing this crazy stuff in college, that is true. So I believe that it's definitely going to get better regardless. But I think that her, I still believe that if that's one flaw, I still believe that if that's one flaw, she could possibly have a better handle.
Speaker 4That's it, that's it.
Speaker 1She can get better with her handle, but I love her game, to be honest. It's good Because she can shoot it from deep, she can take it to the hole, she can dime, she can rebound. I mean, of course she's going to have to play defense. Of course she's going to have to get that better. I agree with Kaviyah she needs to get her handles up. Her handles is where it can be for now in the NBA. They can improve. She's a dog for sure she's a dog. She's a dog.
Speaker 3She hoops with a confidence. That's the thing about Kaviyah she plays with confidence, um, and she's also like a she talked, she talked up, she talked her stuff, you know. I mean, um, and it was just, it was funny watching her because I forgot what, who they were playing in the tournament, but I mean, she was just on it, she was arguing with the refs, she was chirping to the girls, she was, you know, waving her hands up at the crowd and I love that too. I love that too, and I I even remember she told her dad to shut up. I believe she was telling her dad to shut up in the stand. Shut the.
Speaker 4F up.
Speaker 2Right, I didn't want to say that, but yeah, like that's what she said, because if Angel Reese would have said it, oh yeah, it'd have been a little different.
Speaker 3But um, you know about her chirping. I noticed the next few games. She wasn't talking much, she was just kind of letting her game speak for itself and it definitely was on display against LSU.
Speaker 2Yeah man, that was a tough loss.
Speaker 3She gave them 41-7-12, I believe I blame that loss on Kim Mulkey.
Speaker 2I just straight up blame that loss on Kim Mulkey more than anything, because Kim Mulkey didn't. I don't feel Kim Mulkey put her girls in the best possible position to succeed in that game. One standout, one thing that stands out was HBL. Yeah, haley Van Lith on Kaitlyn Clark. That's been a big topic on social media Like what the hell was she doing on Kaitlyn Clark? Yeah, kim Mulkey should have made those adjustments early. Who knows, could have been a different outcome in that game. Anything about the LSU game, lsu and Iowa game that kind of stood out. Like you said.
Speaker 3I don't feel like there were adjustments made. I feel like, you know, they just kind of stuck with the game plan that they had at the beginning. And when you're trying to win a national championship, you just can't do that. And by the time you know, they tried to send a double to Kaitlyn, or you know what I mean. Pick them up full court. It was already too late. You know what I mean. The game was kind of like well, I would say Iowa had the momentum. The game was still close because I believe LSU only lost by like six or seven.
Speaker 2So they just kind of waited.
Speaker 3Yeah, they kind of waited too late to make adjustments, so that's what I, you know, got from the game right, and uh, speaking of that, haley van lit.
Speaker 2This headed to the transfer portal she's in the transfer. Yeah, yes, um any ideas of where she could possibly land or where would you like for to see her go?
Speaker 3I think they said that she had visited um mississippi state, but that's the last that I heard. That's the last that I heard. But my thing about hayley is I was excited for her to play at lsu and I really thought that she would fit their system and it just it sucked to see how her game, kind of like you know um, regressed this year because hayley is a hayley is a bucket. I'm not going to lie. I love the way she plays, I love her confidence. But whenever she went to LSU which I still don't understand why she did, because she was already at Louisville for four years or three or four years and so, like whenever she transferred, I was kind of shocked. But I'm rooting for Haley to bounce back next season. So I guess we'll see. But yeah, I mean, that's it.
WNBA Draft and Media Criticism
Speaker 2Yeah, me personally. Yeah, she got played out of position. That's really what it was. She's a two and they played her at a one, and that's just not her natural position. I just think From what Kim Oki has said too. I have read a statement that you know. Just think from what Kim O'Keefe had said too. I had read a statement that you know. She told her that she needed Haley must have came to her, according to, kim was just like hey, I need another year, but I need to go somewhere else.
Speaker 2To you know pretty much get better, develop, get my stock back up. And she said you know, when a player comes to you and says something like that, you just hug them and tell them God bless them very. Kim O'Keefe yeah, sounds just to you. And say something like that, you just hug them and tell them God bless them Very. Kimo Kimo, yep, sounds just like her. Sounds just like her.
Speaker 4And.
Speaker 2I can guarantee that's probably how that conversation went, yep. So yeah shout out to Haley, where she ends up man I hope she can get her stock up. I guess, looking back on it, she probably should have just stayed at Louisville if she wanted another year.
Speaker 4But to me I feel like her best stock was.
Speaker 2You know, the previous year is probably where she probably had the best draft stock, but shout out to her she's gonna keep trying to figure it out. Um, one thing I do want to get into before we kind of move on to the wmba draft man, we just have to talk about it because it's just a big thing. The angel, recent kaylin Clark thing, this whole it's not even real, it's. It's more so the, the media, the internet that's making this a thing Like uh, try to put them together or yeah, Put them against each other, yeah yeah, and it is like, uh, not necessary.
Speaker 2Um, what I hate about the media, though, like you know, they're the same and they're different. They both chirp, they both talk crap, they both do those things, but it's only one that gets painted out as the villain, you know, and I don't think that's right, and I said this last year, when the whole you can't see me ring, and all that. I've already spoke on it, so I'm not going to harp because y'all are weird, and I've already said weirdos don't belong in sports. When I mean weirdos, I'm definitely saying racist, but I wanted to be nice about it.
Speaker 2But, yeah, racism and racist people don't belong in our world of sports, because things like this happen. You're painting out, you know, angel Reese. Somebody that has just as much passion turns her into a super villain. She tried to embrace the super villain role, something like what lebron james tried to do back in like 2010, 2011, and those. They're not villains, you know, they're good people. Lebron didn't like it. He tried. It didn't work out. Same thing with angel she tried it, she tried to wear the jacket and I'm really not like this person and it's just. It's unfair how they do things and I'm not gonna say you know why?
Speaker 2because we all got eyeballs. We know, and it's wrong, um, angel, angel. Now they say that she has a bad attitude. You don't know. I've read comments. You don't know her you don't know that girl how you know what her attitude is like outside of this arena you don't go to class with her. You, you ain't in study hall with her.
Speaker 2You ain't on. You know what I'm saying. You're watching it like me, right, and I can distinguish between a basketball game and somebody's real personality. You, you turn it like like beyonce and sasha fierce beyonce is beyonce and she's sasha fish when she's on that stage. Like it's two different people and people need to realize that just because yo I'm in your shit while I'm playing the game, don't mean I'm being your shit after the game's over. I'm probably going to dap you up like, hey, you want to go get some pizza or something.
Speaker 3Like you don't know. Good, we're cool. She was like, but in between those four lines, it's competition. It is, and that's just that's all it is. That's all it is is competition. Yeah, that's all it is. And just just the whole picture that they tried to paint about lsu being uh dirty debutants and uh, what did they say? Hot sauce, sauce versus no? What did they say Cookies Oreo cookies versus hot sauce. Like, it's been a lot of things said about them as this tournament has been going on.
Speaker 2How come you don't talk about other teams like that? Why is it like the predominantly black teams get talked about or described in those adjectives? Dirty debutantes, yeah. Hot sauce, you know. Thugs, yeah, aggressive, why? Why? Why can't stanford be dirty debutantes and spicy? You know that kind of like. You know what I'm saying?
Speaker 4it's the narrative that I really had last.
Speaker 2I don't mean to take it this way, but I'd be having to get this shit off because I've been reading the comments and and from both sides you know, I'm saying it's, it's, it's, it's. You know the the minority side too.
Speaker 4They'd be talking crazy, and I I get mad at them too, but it's mostly coming from our other counterparts.
Speaker 2Yeah, and look, that's how I know. Y'all don't even play sports, don't even watch sports, y'all just tuned in because it was trending.
Speaker 3I was just about to say. You know I've seen a lot of talk, like most of y'all have literally just started watching women's basketball this year and y'all have the most to say, Y'all don't even know It'd be the casuals for me.
Speaker 3The casuals you have not been watching, you don't. The only reason you know about some of these players are because, like they're stars now they've been talked about in the media. But like just the way that they've talked about some of these players and some of these teams has just kind of been like disheartening. But you know, when you're doing something right, it comes with it, it comes with haters, it comes with criticism, negative criticism. So I mean it's probably only going to get worse. It's probably not going to get any better, especially since these young women are now in the WNBA. And so yeah, I mean, but I wish they wouldn't, but it's going to happen.
Speaker 2It's definitely definitely what you got. You got anything on there.
Speaker 1I completely agree with both of y'all. It comes with the territory of being good.
Speaker 2Yeah, and it just sucks that the racist commentary is part of that you know, you want to talk about that. She's not that good. She don't got a mid-range shot, that's fine you're thinking about basketball but when you start going, in personal, and that's where you lose it yeah, because you don't know none of these people I don't know, kayla, I don't know things, so I can't sit there like man because she said shut the f up to her daddy man.
Speaker 4She's just a terrible person, she's no, she's in the moment, her daddy talking. I need him to shut up.
Speaker 3I can't concentrate I understood that I didn't get mad right so why?
Speaker 2why y'all getting mad, but anyway, let's move on. You mentioned the wmba draft or the girls going to college, so speak on that, because the draft is going on, or was? It was yeah um, let's go get into the WNBA draft. Let's drop the beat Girls, we run this mother, all right.
Speaker 3So yeah, the WNBA draft was tonight and a lot of the women that we were just talking about have been selected already, because the draft is now over. But, as projected, caitlin Clark went number one to the Indiana Fever Deservingly, so I felt like that was who they were going to go with. Her and Aaliyah Boston are teaming up in Indiana and I'm excited to see what they do. Kaitlyn also has shoot driven up ticket sales. Yes, she did. I mean, you know we've been. You know they've been like kind of shaming the WNBA for so long and now that the tickets are actually, you know they've been kind of shaming the WNBA for so long and now that the tickets are actually pretty pricey.
Speaker 3Now people are complaining. You just kidding, you can never win. You know what I mean. But I'm happy for Kaylin. She went number one. I know she's going to get better, like we just talked about earlier.
Speaker 2But yeah, I mean how y'all feeling about? Yeah, undoubtedly number one pick Hands down, probably the best, not probably is the best woman college basketball player of this season. Yeah, Did you hear me Of this season? Right, Right. So again, national media. There's been greats Diana Taurasi, yes, Sue.
Speaker 3Bird.
Speaker 2Cheryl Swoozley Celeste. Candace parker don't act like these people don't is maya moore, don't act like these people don't exist.
Speaker 3She was simona gustis. We can still.
Speaker 2We can keep naming sylvia fouls come on all day let's not do this yeah, she is the best woman's college basketball player of this season, not of of all time, but of this season, I agree, and maybe even of the past couple of years.
Speaker 3Okay. So that brings up a question for me, and then I'll name the rest of the top ten picks. Do you think that Kaitlyn? Okay. Do y'all think that Kaitlyn is on the Mount Rushmore of college basketball players? And just the ones that we've talked about Maya Candice, the ones that came before her, diana Taurasi, brittany Griner Do y'all think that she's on the Mount Rushmore of women's college basketball?
Speaker 1I don't think so. I don't think so Nah.
Speaker 3It's too many. We're just talking about women's college basketball. Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
Speaker 1Y'all named too many dogs, yeah.
Speaker 3But look at the accolades though the numbers.
Speaker 1I feel it, but nah, I done seen some of the players y'all named for real in college basketball and I don't think she had it like them, I don't think she had it like them.
Speaker 3Even Odyssey Sims was really good in college. I mean, it's so many players, it is so many women.
Speaker 2Accolades included, because I mean she is the best scorer right.
Speaker 3Yes, all the awards she's gotten everything. It's tough, it's really tough, like I want to put her there, which is is a good thing. I want to put her there.
Speaker 2I do because I can't take away from what she did right, I can't regardless of you know how the media has made me feel about her um because I like her but the media is making me like.
Speaker 4But I like her because I try and I try to you know, cancel all the noise and just look at the game.
Speaker 2But yeah, I might have to put up there. I might just because of the accolades. You know what I'm saying. Yeah, I mean she is literally, she holds a record.
Speaker 4Yeah.
Speaker 2So it's kind of hard to be like you ain't one of the best if you hold a record.
Speaker 3I have. I currently can you change your Mount Rushmore players? As time goes on, I think you can.
Speaker 4If we see anybody greater or better.
Speaker 3That's fair, because nobody can come back. I think right now I have her on my Mount Rushmore and I have posted this on X and I had only posted three and I was like I'm still trying to figure out my last one and I think I had Kaitlyn Clark I had. Who else did I have? I had Caitlin, I had. Hey, why can't I think? I can't, I can't think of who I had.
Speaker 3I had Maya, yes, and I can't think of the third player that I had, but I did not put Candice on there and a few others and everybody's like man you tripping, like Candice is up there, I'm like I said, but that's the point's. So many different players that have come through, oh, I put Diana Taurasi. So it was Diana Taurasi, maya Moore, kaylin Clark and I was like I can't think of my fourth player, but it's so many to choose from because you guys, well, I feel like Candice is better than Stewie, I feel like you know she, candice was a dog at Tennessee. Yes, candice was a dog at Tennessee. Yes, she was.
Speaker 4She was.
Speaker 3And then also came into the WNBA and got Rookie of the Year. Was a dog Dumped? Yes, and it was another award that she got, and maybe that is my fourth player.
Speaker 4Maybe that's who it is. It's.
Speaker 3Candice, it's Candice, it's got to be. But yeah, I mean, it's a tough thing, but it's a good thing for women's basketball. Like I said, it's so many different players, so many good players that are being um created, you know, and and um and I just I don't know, it's just, it's just a good thing to keep watching no, I agree, I agree, um shoot.
Speaker 2Oh okay, real quick too, and then I'll let you finish your list. So when the tournament was, or the championship was going on and the Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi had had the, you know, like the Manicast oh, yes, yes, yes people was kind of getting on Diana for being a hater did y'all feel like she was hating, or was she giving the real?
Speaker 3I think it was a little bit of both, because she's just like what did she say about angel? No, oh, because I guess angel was waving by to the girl who had fouled out and I forgot who they were playing. But diana was just like, oh yeah, wave bye to your career, or something like that, she said. And then, um, I then of course, what else did she say something about?
Speaker 2it's gonna get real she said you're like a. You might be a super human between college girls, but in the WM you playing around, you playing with grown women.
Speaker 3That's played ball for a long time, but see one thing that I never, quote that was quoted, I think.
Speaker 3So I know whenever and I hate the chat, y'all gonna clown me for this but whenever Brian was coming into the league, even his own teammates didn't believe that he would, you know, be great. But you don't really see a lot of the men kind of like talking down on the young books that are coming into the league. They normally kind of like give them their props, like yeah, he's a you know, talented player, he can do this well, he can do this well, he could do this well. They kind of give them their flowers and I and I'm not saying that diana has not done this, because I'm sure she has, I haven't watched all of their um, I haven't watched all of their streams, but just it's when you, on live television, just just lift these young girls up because that's all they.
Speaker 3They look up to y'all, yeah, you know, and they don't want to hear you like already putting them down before they even get to the league, like you, one of the goats in the WNBA, if not the goat, you know, I mean, for some people. So I, I mean I'm not mad that she said it, but I just wish that, you know, she kind of would have worded it a little differently because, like I said, these young, these young ladies look up to you and they're coming in. One of them may even be your little rookie, you know I mean. And they look up to you and they're coming in. One of them may even be your little rookie, you know what I mean. And they looking up to you and here you go, on the verge of retirement, like sounding old and bitter. You know what I mean.
Speaker 4I'm not even trying to be. I'm not even trying to be, but you.
Speaker 3That's how you sound because these young women are making noise how they are and they getting these NIL deals now and the game is different. It's different than when y'all was in college.
Speaker 2They'd probably be a little bitter about that.
Speaker 3Yeah, I would be upset about the NIL stuff for sure, because they were all-stars, they were big-time.
Speaker 2They could have been getting. And I caught one of their streams and either Sue asked Diana asked Sue how much you think you would have been making if they had NIL. Back when we was playing Both of you kind of lungs, by the way, they said oh hell of a lot and yes, they would have.
Speaker 3They would have been top NIL getters.
Speaker 2Make no mistake, before I answer, or respond back to Gaville about the whole Diana Saracen thing, did you want to chime in? You had something to say?
Speaker 1I just think she kind of sounded a little bitter. But I get where she was coming from, though, but she could have put it better. She could have put it in a better way than how she put it, because she really sounded like a hater.
Speaker 3She, did, did she, and it's just like come on, Diana.
Speaker 2You didn't even have to say that and it's just like come on you didn't even have to say that just watch the game, commentate on what's happening and keep it pushed she may be a little bitter because she's on her way out and the hype wasn't surrounded them like it is now and it's like I can see it from two and I won't say long as a staple in the WNBA and I've been putting in the years, been putting in the work and you know, going unrecognized. And then you get these college girls. You know playing ball, playing hell of a game, great game. You know the athleticism well, you know girls are really not that athletic, but they're getting a little
Speaker 3bit more athletic, you know the fast pace well you know, girls are really not that athletic but they're getting a little bit more athletic.
Speaker 2You know the fast pace. The whoops, whoops, whoops are there and the internet.
Speaker 3Yeah.
Speaker 2You know what I'm saying. They had the internet to also help them with that push.
Speaker 3It's different now.
Speaker 4And they didn't have that.
Speaker 2And they probably didn't have that they're like well damn. As times change change things get better, right and things change. You know, older people tend to not like change, and it's true, um, but yeah, it was borderline, a little bitterness undertone, but she's also saying like hey, you may be a dog right now but you gotta come live with the big girls I'm not saying that what she said wasn't the truth.
Speaker 3That's no. No, that's an obvious given. You know what I mean. They're going to have to step their game up for sure. But the way she said it and what she said, yeah. It was a little haterish to me.
Speaker 2It was a little bitter, but, like I said, I don't know, you know, like you said, you agree, you may be super superhuman here, but on this next level, you, you gonna, maybe either you're gonna excel or you maybe get brought down a couple of everybody's gonna have their uh.
Speaker 2Welcome to the wmba moment oh yeah, and I'm sure diana gonna be trying to give it to everybody, everybody, and I'm gonna tell you right now, uh, kayla clark, she better be aware, because a lot I'm gonna give it to her. Oh yeah, oh yeah, I'm gonna give it to her.
Speaker 4Oh yeah, A lot of them are going to give it to her.
Speaker 2That's coming Because, Diana they already said Diana- already when she say welcome, and then she bumps you, and then yeah so like Kelly's going to get hers and she's got to be prepared for it. All of them are going to get hers they are going. They're going to come at you, yeah, like, but they also going to be trying to rough you up.
Speaker 3But the thing about it is they know this. Yeah, these rookies that are coming in, they know what's coming, but that's just going to push them and motivate them to work even harder. Like, okay, I'm going to show you and honestly I won't, I'm not going to lie to you. Like I want Kaitlyn to shine. I do want her to shine. I want her to shine, I want and right now I got her projected rookie of the year Like I think that she will be the rookie of the year, barring any type of injury, knock on wood. But I think that Caitlyn is going to do her thing. I just really do. She works hard, she gets in the gym, she grinds Along with the other girls. But I just think her specifically.
Speaker 2yeah, she's going to do her thing, All right.
Speaker 3Go ahead and roll up the rest of the top 10. So yeah, like we said, kaylin went number one, cameron Brink went number two to the Sparks, and then you have Camila Cardoso, who went to the Chicago Sky with the third overall pick, and then, with the fourth overall pick, rekia Jackson went to the Sparks, the Dallas Wings selected JC Sheldon with the fifth overall pick, the Washington Mystics selected Aaliyah Edwards with the sixth overall pick and then backdoor, the number seven pick, the Chicago Sky. They picked up Angel. Yes, now can we pause there real quick?
Speaker 3Sure, I like Angel, I love her passion, I love how she talks, noise, I love it. But she is one of the ones that's going to really have to like get better. And it was very. She got exposed a little bit, a little bit, just a little bit, because she still was averaging pretty much a double-double. She was also the SEC Player of the Year. She was averaging like a double-double in the tournament.
Speaker 3But when you watch her game and me just being a fan of basketball, she plays down low and on that block and in that paint. She doesn't really have moves Like. She is very one-dimensional as far as like she's a really good rebounder. She gets her points pretty much. If she's up the court, get her the ball in transition. She can score in transition. She pretty much grabs boards and, you know, puts them back up. I want to see Angel develop a shot like a mid-range shot, and I want to see Angel get some moves, because I really feel like if she gets that footwork down then she could be a really good player. But she went number seven to the Chicago Sky. Her and Camila Cardoso are going to be playing together, but I want to see Angel thrive in the WNBA. I really do so. She has to get better, and she's been posting clips of her in the gym and working on her shot, working on her three pointer. I ain't seen her working on post moves yet, though.
Speaker 3I mean, and obviously she is going to have to develop a shot because you're going to be playing against much bigger girls. You're probably going to have to develop a shot because you're going to be playing against much bigger girls. You're probably going to have to play that 3-4 position, and so I want to see her, though with some moves in the paint. That's what I want to see her with, along with developing her jumper. How do you feel about that?
Speaker 2Yeah, no, actually, you mentioned that she's been posting videos. What's his name? Chris Brickley out of new york. Um, yeah, she went to his gym and she was putting up shots, but I don't know if y'all know that. But, angel, before she hit a growth spurt, she was a point guard. Okay, so she can drill. Um, and yeah, she played the guard position and then she hit like two growth spurts and now she's six, three um. So, of course, like, if you're that tall as a woman, you're pretty much a post or a center.
Speaker 3So then she needs to work on that handle then too.
Speaker 2No, she definitely do.
Speaker 3Angel plays flimsy, she's like blah, blah, blah yeah.
Speaker 2And I hate that. I hate players that be bouncy and just be falling on the ground all the time.
Speaker 3I hate that. And again, this is not no knock on the angel. No, no, no, no, because I like angels, but if I'm a WBA scout. If I'm a part of the Chicago Sky and she was my scout, I would tell her this like hey, we took you, but these are the things that we need you to improve on period. You know what I mean. It's just facts, yeah.
Speaker 2I think she knows what she needs to work on and stuff like that. But yeah, I think she, like you said, she's going to be a slight project and she's going to have to try to get a little bit bigger because you're going to be banging down there with the big girls, like we've already stated Candace Parker, aja Wilson, dewana Bonner.
Speaker 4John Quill Jones.
Speaker 2Who's? Else down there, man. Just to name a few. She's going to have to try to put on a little.
Speaker 1I'm going to say just put on some muscle, Put on some muscle put on a little weight.
Speaker 2Like Vel said, the footwork.
Speaker 3Stand your ground, stay up, develop a midi.
Speaker 2Develop that three, She'll be alright Plus. Don't sell tickets yes, of course you know what I'm saying? She don't sell tickets regardless, but with the tickets, you want to also expand your game, don't you feel, rose?
Speaker 1Yeah, I agree. I agree she needs to work on her free throws and her moves. Her post moves and of course she gotta work on the mid range. She ain't gotta have a three right now mid range. She gotta work on her jump and her free throws. To me, I agree.
Speaker 2So do you see Angel being well? Do you see Angel having a successful WNBA career?
Speaker 1If she work at it. Yeah, If she stay off the socials and work at it.
Speaker 3That's what she do. Yeah, all right, I'm saying okay. Yeah, all right, I'm sorry okay do you?
Speaker 2think you, you did you answer that day if, uh, you think she's gonna have a successful wba career I don't know yet.
Speaker 3Oh, that's why I said I, I want to. I want to see her thrive and do well in the wba. But I need to see first. I need to see, I need to see. The season starts next month yeah, you know I mean yeah, so uh.
Speaker 3Yeah, we'll see um, but I'm rooting for her, I really am, uh. And then so number eight, minnesota links. They picked up alissa piley from utah, uh, from utah, uh. Dallas wings picked up carla liate I hope I'm saying that right, she's from france. And then the 10th pick, and I'm gonna stop here. Well, actually I have one more. The 10th pick. They picked um, picked up the connecticut sun, picked up layla lakin, and then so the aces. You know they just won the championship, so they weren't gonna really have a high pick. They picked up my girl, daisha fair, which was the fifth. I believe she was the fifth all-time scorer in women's basketball history.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 3Now she's 5'5", but I feel like this could be a project for the Aces, so I'm happy that she gets an opportunity to showcase her skill and try to, you know, solidify her spot on the squad.
Speaker 2I wanted to say something, because the Aces everyone knows the Aces is our team. That's who we really root for. We are fans of the Dallas Wings, but the Aces are our team and you said that. You said the Aces is going to be a project.
Speaker 3I feel like she will because of her size.
Speaker 2That's the only knock is her size and the good thing about her going to the Aceses she doesn't have to be ready, right now right, exactly exactly so you know they have the chelsea grades and the kelsey plums and so just be an understudy, right now be an understudy. Yeah, you're not gonna get in the court anyway she may not maybe in garbage time, maybe in in garbage time.
Speaker 3It depends on you know how she looks in training camp. I think that's what it depends on. Is she going? To be that Because she's a confident player. She's small, but she's very small. But, like you said, I don't see her coming in right away and getting a lot of playing time.
Speaker 2Okay, Because I was going to ask do you see her taking Jackie Young's spot?
Speaker 3Of you see her taking.
Speaker 2Jackie.
Speaker 3Young's spot? Of course not Chelsea Kelsey. No, okay, not right now.
Speaker 2But see she got drafted to a good team.
Speaker 4Yes, she did.
Speaker 3And Becky Hamm is a hell of a coach With a lot of good vets Bring her on slowly Then she'll probably be ready.
Speaker 2But as long as you have Chelsea Gray and Jackie Young and Kelsey Plum, we will see De'Asia. You know, we're up by 20 or 30. It's only like 36. But it's okay, but she's a good player, man you know what? Let me not say that, because I don't know, she may take Jackie Young's spot.
Speaker 3No, she's 5'5" and I'm not even trying to keep throwing her size out there. But Jackie is solidified in their rotation.
Speaker 2That's a champion. I'm back to back even trying to keep throwing her size out there, but Jackie is solidified in their rotation. I mean we just got yeah, yeah we just got to see.
Speaker 3We just got to see what Deja does in training camp. But I'm happy for her. I'm happy that she got an opportunity because, like numbers don't lie, and she definitely solidified herself in the women's college basketball game. Just happy to see what she does. If we do see her.
Speaker 2We'll see her. That's all we got for college and WNBA.
Speaker 3I'm excited for the WNBA season, y'all. It's going to be really good With these rookies coming in the way. Ticket sales are going, the talk, the chatter I'm just excited.
Speaker 2I'm happy they have to move arenas when Kayla Clark comes in. Yes, she'll tell you a lot.
Speaker 3It should tell you a lot how the season is going to go. I'm excited.
Speaker 2I'm excited about it. I'm going to see the ticket holder. I'm excited about it. I'm going to see the ticket holder, so I'm excited.
Speaker 3She happy y'all. She just had to put that in there. Yeah, man, alright, you ready to?
Speaker 2move on. That's it Alright. Baby Drop that beat Alright. Y'all know, when we play that, what that mean. It's time to talk about that NBA.
Speaker 3Yeah.
Speaker 2I think this is what we all been waiting on. I know we kind of slow walked y'all here, but we here now the play-in starts this week, starts tomorrow. Yeah right, that's right. And you know what. I'm going to be quiet. You know why I'm going to be quiet. You know I'm gonna be quiet. Let me tell you, I'm gonna be quiet because I ain't gotta worry about it. I ain't gotta worry about no play in these two jokers, veils and rose. You know gotta worry about the play in me. I'm chilling the sunday. I'm chill I. I ain't got no dog with a fight baby. You know why did my marriage finish the fifth seed like I said we was going to do. I said between five and seven and we hit five. But again, it's not about me, it's not about my team, it's about y'all. Go ahead, I get it.
Speaker 4Yeah, I was just about to say Rose is a Mavs fan. First, I just like.
Speaker 1LeBron.
Speaker 3Yeah, but I mean, I understand why Lise and Rose, to an extent, are excited because they didn't make the playoffs last year. So I get it. I understand their excitement, no shade. But I'm just saying so, I get it. And Lise is right, the Mavericks and the Clippers are the only two teams. Well, they're the only matchup set, right? No, they're not the only matchup set. Not everybody's set now. Everybody's pretty much set now after yesterday's games. But yeah, the Mavericks and the Clippers have been set for like at least three or four days already. And then you got the Timberwolves going up against the Suns and that's pretty much it in the West.
Speaker 2But yeah, she right, she ain't got to worry about it till sunday um. I think that's gonna be a decent series.
Speaker 3I do have the mavericks winning that one um, but because the mavericks have just looked great. We're not. We're not talking about this, right, we no?
Speaker 2I'm just okay. So what? So how?
Speaker 3so how we okay, so we're gonna start with the play, and I guess that's right. I guess that's right. So rose hasn't really said much, so I'm gonna let I'm going to let. Rose talk about the play-in that starts tomorrow, and I'm going to get my two cents and then Lisa come in with it.
Speaker 1Oh well, first of all, the Mavericks is my team, so looking for MVP. But yeah man, the Lakers going to beat the Pelicans. Of course I know everybody trying to say the Lakers should tank and lose.
Speaker 2So why are y'all tanking? Y'all don't want to play the.
Speaker 1Thunder. Nah, the Nuggets. The Nuggets are the second seed, but none of that matters. We ain't going to tank, we're on the go. We're going to beat the Pelicans and then we're going to beat the Nuggets but we'll get into that later and then I think, the Kings going to beat the Warriors. I think so. I don't think the Warriors got enough this year.
Speaker 2I have a question teams that are in the play-in how many games do y'all get? Is it one and done, or do y'all get to play two?
Speaker 1The winner of the 7v8 game. They get the seventh seed and they play the second seed. So whoever the second seed is the Knicks or the Nuggets, depending if you're the West or the East and then the ninth seed versus the tenth seed. If you lose you out, and if you win, you play the loser of the seventh, the eighth seed and then the winner of that game is the eighth seed. And they play either OKC or Boston, whoever in the conference.
Speaker 3Right, see, I didn't know the rules because I didn't have to worry about those. I'm not going to be petty again. I've already said what I had to say about last season.
Speaker 2I didn't care about the rules, because we're not there when you tied your spot.
Speaker 3Y'all weren't there last year, sweetie, we tanked.
Speaker 2You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3Tanked for what we got lively. We have protected Tim. How did that work out for y'all?
Speaker 1Good, Great actually.
Speaker 3Then she trolled it. Then she trolled it. Go ahead Des Finish up. I'm sorry.
Speaker 1We got the Bulls versus the Hawks on Wednesday.
Speaker 4I'm going to take the Bulls because I don't like.
Speaker 1Trae Young. Is he back? Yeah, he's back. I've spoken vocally.
Speaker 3That surprised me yesterday too. I'm like Trae playing.
Speaker 1Yeah, oh, we got Philly versus the Heat. This is surprising, but I'm going to take the Heat. I'm going to take the Heat. I think in B he hurt right now. I like Maxie and everybody.
Speaker 4but Jimmy Butler.
Speaker 1I don't understand man, that man won two playing games last year and then went to the finals.
Speaker 3Jimmy different, you're right, but I feel like the Heat haven't been as of late. They ain't been playing, they ain't been the same Heat team, I think, the way that the Sixers are playing right now. I did not know that Joel was hurt again.
Speaker 1Again. Yeah, I mean he got hurt. I think like the second to last game before the season was over with, but he played the last game.
Speaker 4I just feel like he's not 100% is what I'm saying. I don't think he's 100%.
Speaker 1And if he depended on Tobias Harris.
Speaker 4Good luck, but I like Tyrese.
Speaker 1Yeah, no, for real.
Speaker 3But I like Tyrese Maxey. Tyrese has been hooping this year. He may, honestly may, be the most improved player this season. From last season to this season, he's made a huge jump he did Because after James left, he just stepped into that role and has been playing some amazing basketball.
Speaker 2So yeah, I agree, mip. So, rose, you taking Bulls over Hopes. Yeah, you taking Heat over Sixers, I guess Lakers over Pelicans. And then you said Warriors over Kings, kings over Warriors, kings over Warriors.
Speaker 1But then I think the Kings gonna beat the Pelicans and I think Philly will beat the Bulls In the next round. Bulls In the next round, in the next round.
Speaker 3So for me, the play-in tomorrow's game between the Pelicans and the Lakers is going to be kind of tricky because I feel like both teams want to play. They would rather play OKC. So I'm not really sure how that game is going to go. But I do think that the Lakers are not going to play with their food. I think that they're going to go ahead and take care of business. If they have to go ahead and win this game and then match up with the Nuggets. And I feel like it's better for them to match up with the Nuggets early rather than late, Because last year when they met the Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals, it was almost like they had ran out of gas. They got swept in the Western Conference Finals and even with Brian doing his thing, it just wasn't there. Now I will say this the Lakers have lost the last nine games to the Nuggets, right, and that's why a lot of Laker fans slash media. People want to see the Lakers tank quote-unquote in order to play the Thunder in the first round, because they feel like that's a more favorable matchup for them. But I feel like that's a more favorable matchup for them. But I feel like honestly and I've been going back and forth with this since I knew how it was going to play out. I just think that just take care of business. Tomorrow, Lakers and we'll see the Nuggets. We're not ducking any smoke.
Speaker 3Also, the Lakers versus the Nuggets games like they haven't really been blowouts. They've all been close. All of the games have been close. The Lakers have just never been able to get over that hump and like win the game in the end. Even the very last time they played, the Lakers was up pretty much the entire game. And then, of course, towards the end of the fourth quarter, they found some kind of way to lose and I think Jamal Murray had turned into I don't know who he turned into, but that man was not missing and then, of course, Jokic, with these crazy shots he be hitting. So I mean, they're a tough team. But honestly, like I said, we're not ducking no smoke. I'd rather play them now versus later on. I got the, but I have the Lakers over the Pelicans tomorrow night and then I have the Warriors beating the Kings. Lately, as of late, the Warriors have been playing really good basketball. The Kings are still without Malik Monk, I believe. Oh, he's done for the season.
Speaker 3Yeah, he's done, but they do still have Sabonis, they do still have Fox and all the rest of their players that they got. But I just think that the Warriors, right now I think they have a little bit more experience. I remember last year's playoffs, whenever I think Golden State won in seven games, I believe, and Curry had that 50-point game, I believe, in the seven games. I just feel like the Warriors, I feel like they're going to beat the Kings, I don't know and then it'll be the Kings versus the Pelicans to see who will play OKC In the East. For me, I got the Bulls over the Hawks. I'm going to just call Bulls over Hawks and I'm going to go Sixers over the Heat. I'm going to just keep it that simple so we can move on.
Speaker 2Cool For me again. No dog in the fight. I'm taking the Warriors over the Kings. I just think I mean regardless, it's Golden State, right yeah? I mean they got the pedigree, They've been there. This is I mean this is a little uncharted territory with the play in, but again, this is a dynasty here that we're talking about.
Speaker 3Older. Now Clay is starting to catch fire again too.
Speaker 2He then found his shot. You know he turned back the clock. So the Warriors are dangerous here, and I just don't think the Kings have enough for that, but Sabonis is crazy. Oh yeah, no, he is.
Speaker 3So they could go either way.
Speaker 2I know, but when the Warriors are in the playoffs, you got to take the Warriors. I got the Lakers over the Pelicans. There's no reason why y'all should lose that game. Well, I said there's no reason, Obviously if y'all y'all trying
Speaker 4to strategically trying to.
Speaker 3You know I get that, but as far as the talent level, y'all should be the best but you can't play with your food like that and you like they were saying on TV earlier like you can't mess with the basketball guys like that, you gotta, you gotta get out there and play with integrity you know what I mean and play to win.
Speaker 2So I got. I hope, like you said, I hope y'all just go out there and take care of business. Um, I'm actually taking the hawks over the bulls. I I just I don't, I don't really care for ice tray myself, but the bulls just ain't bullying for me, you know y'all drafted trerey.
Speaker 3You don't care for him. That's crazy. We drafted Trey to Trey. I know that.
Speaker 2I'm just saying, but I get it. I mean, yeah, I knew he wasn't going to be a part of the matter.
Speaker 3You didn't know that.
Speaker 2No, no, that was already planned. They take Trey, we swap, we pick before them. Anyway, that's not the point. I got the house over the books and I'm taking the Sixers over the Heat. The Sixers really had a strong season until Embiid came down, I agree.
Speaker 2The Sixers shouldn't even be in this position. They shouldn't. It's crazy. So that alone is why I get Jimmy Buckets. Jimmy Jimmy is a playoff freak, but the fact that the Sixers are seven when they should at least be like three, that speaks volumes. So, Sixers over the Heat. What I want Rose to do? Because he won't be with us? Maybe I'm saying that, but it's a possibility that he may not be with us. Maybe I'm saying that, but it's a possibility he may not be with us through the playoff tournament. Not that he's going to die or anything, he just won't be on the episode. But we may bring him back if he has time. But, Rose, can you give me your winner, your Lario winner?
Speaker 1Oh, the whole, thing, the whole thing If you could.
Speaker 2You don't have to run through each pick Just who you see winning this thing.
Speaker 1Y'all know what I'm going to say. Man, the guy number 77. Him and Kyrie going to bring home a shield.
Speaker 2Let's go Dallas, man it's 7 versus. Boston. Dallas is 7 against Boston.
Speaker 1I ain't mad at it Me and Bill.
Speaker 2we're going to wait on ours. We'll be back.
Speaker 4Rose is picking the Triple D.
Speaker 2Dallas Mavericks against Boston in the finals and we're winning in their seven. I like that.
Speaker 3That's my boy, that's my boy, what y'all got for me. I just think this is going to be overall, it's going to be a really good playoffs.
Speaker 2It's going to be really exciting.
Speaker 3It's going to be interesting and, yeah, I can't wait. And are we done?
Speaker 2talking to NBA, I was going to say, while we're on the subject, we're going to be yeah, no, cause we got to go into the Lakers and the Mavs.
Speaker 3Okay, yeah, we can get into that. Go ahead, go ahead.
Speaker 2Go ahead.
Speaker 1Oh what, y'all got a bet or something. No, no no bets.
Speaker 2We, just because you know she's a fan of Mads fan, and we just kind of like to banter back and forth a little bit and brag on our teams.
Speaker 3She really don't got much to brag about but I do Actually, I have a little bit to brag about. Oh, just a little bit, but I have a lot Go ahead.
Speaker 2Go ahead, all go ahead. All right, man. So we're sitting at five. Um, I think we were chasing four, but once we realize, you know, four is probably not attainable, we settle for five, which is fine, we're pretty decent on the road um.
Speaker 2I'm excited rose I'm excited this, this, this feels special, this almost eerie to 2011, almost, almost, almost feeling a little 2011-ish. We'll have to see how this first round goes, but I'm so excited, I'm pleased how we've played after the All-Star break, how our team has came together after the trades. The pieces are starting to fit. The chemistry is there. The guys are laughing, smiling, pulling pranks on each other.
Speaker 4That's what I want to see out of my basketball team going into the playoffs.
Speaker 2That's exactly what I want to see out of my team heading into a gauntlet Make no mistake, the West is a gauntlet and I want to see my team having that camaraderie going into something like that. Man, I'm just so excited. Man, if Luka don't get MVP, man, you know what? It's a travesty, and I get why he was not considered at the beginning, because we didn't have the best record. But the fact that we went from a playing team like the Lakers to a seeded five team with the numbers Lucas putting up there's no, maybe no mistake. He is the MVP.
Speaker 2Of course, not to take nothing away from Jokic, his name is being brought up every year. He's actually won twice in a row, right, I can't say nothing away from uh, shy he, he's been great, he's led that team so. But I just feel like when you go on a triple double streak of seven and you've gone on double double streaks of I don't know 10 to 12, it's giving a little mvp to me and I think that we need to do right. I know people the I don't know 10 or 12, it's giving a little MVP to me and I think that we need to do right, I know people don't like Luka because they say he cry, he whine and all that stuff. Okay, most all Diva superstars do. But this man is putting up huge numbers, huge numbers, breaking all kinds of records and for that alone you take Luka off this team. Will we still be a playoff team? I mean, I know we got Kyrie, no, but we got to be honest If you took Luka off the Mavericks, will we be in the fifth seed right now?
Speaker 3No.
Speaker 2No. So when you remove a player, when you say this player's not playing, what does my team look like? We look like crap. So to me, that tells me everything I need to know. Luka is definitely the MVP, but other than that man, I'm just excited. I'm waiting to take Clippers Now. I'm not taking the Clippers lightly. They have been our Achilles heel since 2020 or 2021. Whenever we had played in the playoffs beat us um. Both years in a row they knocked us out. But I'm kind of like raven johnson, I'm on a revenge tour. I'm on a revenge tour. Uh, I think. I don't think the clippers have enough for what we got to do what we got. I don't think they have enough for what we got. I'm excited. Rose, you a Mavs fan, Talk to me.
Speaker 1I'm excited, man. We're going to have to do it one game at a time, one step at a time, but we've been playing defense. Pj and Gaffer have been hooping, hopefully lively back. Exum is a game changer, kyrie, of course, and we got a bench. We coming, kyrie, of course, and we got a bench. Yeah, we we coming, man, we ready Mavs in what? Oh, against the Clippers? Yeah, six, six.
Speaker 2I'm saying Mavs in five or Mavs in six, but you know what? Because I do respect James Harden, I do respect Paul George and the Kawhis and the Russells.
Speaker 3Mavs in six, yeah yeah, I have the Mavs at six. Yeah, I have the Mavs beating the Clippers in about five or six. Myself, the Mavs have been looking really, really good Since you guys have made that trade. I can't knock. I do agree that Lucas should be the MVP, because the numbers he's been putting up and I mean this man is putting up, he's scoring. What is he averaging in the first half, like maybe 25 to 28 points in the first half.
Speaker 3I mean like it's ridiculous um, but he's been playing lights out basketball and. But I think the thing with the MVP the criteria is just so it's so confusing, you just don't know what they're looking at. Like it's it's tough, I think, for them to to just kind of choose, because I feel like they move to goalposts every year depending on what player it is. I mean because it was some years that LeBron should have had MVPs, but I remember specifically the year that Nash had got it and he shouldn't have. It should have been LeBron's MVP. You know what I mean and I respect Nash, but you know what I mean. Like it's just I sat out at the set, like you just never know. So I do agree that Luka should be the MVP, but if he gets snubbed, it wouldn't be the first time somebody in NBA history has been snubbed from an MVP, you know. But I do have the Mavericks beating the Clippers in about five or six games in their first round series.
Speaker 2Cool. Do y'all want to talk about y'all Lakers and what y'all got to be proud of?
Speaker 1Yeah, okay.
Speaker 3First of all, again, I get it. They did not make the playoffs last year, so they're excited. They're excited. You know what I mean.
Speaker 3They didn't have a dog in the fight last year and I understand, you know, they just kind of watched other teams play. But this year they do have something to be proud of. So I'm going to let her have her moment Right now. The Lakers are currently the eighth seed and I feel like they would be a higher seed had freaking ham knew how to coach the team. Ham is just not. I don't like him. I can't even I can't even listen to him talk anymore.
Speaker 3The players sometimes seem to respect him. Sometimes they seem not to respect them. Like it's just, I don't know, it's been weird, like some of the lineups that he just, oh, let's try this, okay them. Like it's just, I don't know, it's been weird, like some of the lineups that he just, oh, let's try this, okay, let's try this. Like that's what it seemed like he just telling the coaches that we'll just try this tonight, see if it works. No, sir, like you have to put the, you have to put rotations together, who have had minutes together, who have had chemistry built on the court together, and sometimes I feel like, hey, I'm kind of straight away from that, just trying stuff, and I feel like that's why we're in this situation we are in now because AD played 76 games this season. Brian played 70-plus this season.
Speaker 3If you would have told me that at the beginning of the season, oh, I would have had us at least top five, like I had us at the beginning. Like I predicted, I had us top five, at least in the West. What happened? But I'm not really mad because, like, we are the eighth seed and if the play-in didn't exist, we would be playing OKC in the first round. But since it does, we're going to let the chips fall where they may, like LeBron always says so again tomorrow. We got the Pelicans in the play-in game. If we beat them, then we will be playing the Nuggets.
Speaker 3I got a good feeling. Honestly I do because it's hard to beat a team so many times and I feel like it's one of them trick series, you know what I mean. Like it's a trick bag series, like Dez would say, because everybody has the Nuggets winning, right, everybody is projecting the Lakers to beat the Pels tomorrow. We don't know what's going to happen, but they got the Lakers beating them and they're like well, they're not winning against the Nuggets. So there's that. Get ready for that question. Blah, blah, blah. You don't know what's going to happen and I feel like, like I said, after getting beat by a team so many times at some point, enough got to be enough Now.
Speaker 3I'm not disrespecting the Nuggets. We all know what type of team they are. I'm honestly surprised that they're not the number one seed. But the way the West went this year and how crazy it was it was a three-way tie for one that's unheard of. I don't think that's ever happened in NBA history. You know what I mean. It literally came down to the very last game of the season.
Speaker 3I'm proud of the Lakers because they didn't give up, even if they let go of some games that they shouldn't have. I can remember specifically when they were up 20-something on the Brooklyn Nets and let them come all the way back and win their game. It's certain games that they should have. You got to win the games that you're supposed to win. You know what I mean. They let a few of them go. Ad got poked and out of the night and then he misses the game. Braun missed the game, the last game against the warriors. Like it's just certain things that have happened this season that kind of put them in the spot where they're in. We could have been a 9-10 seed because we were, but we're in the eighth spot. We're gonna take that, we're gonna play who in front of us and and then, like I said, we're just going to let the chips fall where they're made.
Speaker 3Brian in year 21 was still ridiculous, which is crazy, still playing at a high level. He scored his 40,000th point this year Yesterday. He passed 11,000 assists for his career. I mean, the man, is he averaged 25 this season? I mean the man, is he averaged 25 this season? I just sometimes I just run out of things to say about Brian, I don't really know, but individually I was pleased with him and also individually I was pleased with AD, because that was the knock coming into the season he ain't going to play, he going to be injured.
Speaker 3And he told us at the beginning like I want to play all 82 and he played 76. So I got to give it up to AD. You know what I mean. Like I got to give it up to him because he he thugged it out and he played. He wasn't injured as much and like you know what I'm saying, he actually had a real shoot Without Luka, without Jokic, even without Giannis. Even AD was in the MVP conversation at one point in time. That's how good a basketball he's been playing this season, so I'm rolling with my guys. I'm not, I guess at this point I have to be satisfied with where we are. Like I said, we've got a player who's in front of us, so I'm confident in this team. Though, and Lisa's talking all that noise. You better hope that this don't come back and bite you in the butt, because I'm not going to stop trolling.
Speaker 2I'm going to let you know now. I'm not going to stop trolling Like if we lose in the first round.
Speaker 3Well, no, I'm not saying if y'all lose in the first round, I got y'all beating the Clippers, but don't let this come back and bite you oh.
Speaker 2Don't let this come back and bite you. Oh, I mean it can't, because we're not in the playoffs. No, I'm not talking about playing-wise.
Speaker 3I'm talking about play-offs. I have the Lakers making the playoffs period, but I'm just saying don't let this come back and bite you without as noise. You're talking without as noise.
Speaker 2you're saying, we are contenders. Desmond gave his prediction of what was going to happen.
Speaker 3No, I'm not talking about the prediction, I'm talking about the noise you're talking, you know what you're doing.
Speaker 2We're waiting on Sunday. We're not panicked, we're catching a flight on Friday. Hello, we're good Tomorrow. I'm just going to be a fan of the NBA tomorrow. I'm just going to be a fan of the NBA, like you were last season.
Speaker 3I get it, we tanked. No, I don't want to hear it. You were a fan last year. Why did y'all have to tank?
Speaker 2We needed help.
Speaker 3No, but why did y'all have to tank? What position were y'all in? Oh okay, All right, Moving on. No, no no Moving.
Speaker 2moving on because look now, correct me if I'm wrong, because my memory is a little, you know sometimes but if we would have played, we were still in position to make the play in.
Speaker 3That's what I'm saying. Like, what position were y'all?
Speaker 2in.
Speaker 3We were on the outside looking in that's why y'all had to tank, because had y'all made the playoffs.
Speaker 2We would not have gotten lively. We was protecting, we were a top.
Speaker 3You're not getting what I'm saying. Y'all were in a position that y'all had to tank sweetheart. You had to.
Speaker 2We didn't have to.
Speaker 3Okay.
Speaker 2I mean yes, yes All right.
Speaker 3I mean yes, so that's it. That's all I'm saying. But yeah, so. Did you want to chime in on the pills?
Speaker 1you already did right, brown, about to drop 40 tomorrow. Man, it's go, james, till they play the Mavericks, it's go, james.
Speaker 2That's the matchup you out there on the island by yourself that's the matchup I'm on.
Speaker 3I want that Mavs. It's going to be tougher for us than it is for y'all, but I want that Mavs-Lakers matchup. Mavs-v-lakers. Where's the?
Speaker 1conference finals.
Speaker 2Ooh, it's going to be war. Look, I'm telling y'all right now if the Lakers and Mavs team go head-to-head, group chat on the pod.
Speaker 3We got to, we're gonna have to, we have to and we're just gonna anyway. Anyway, I'm sorry y'all, so is that?
Speaker 2all we have for the play offs right now. That's all I got right now because we chill. Okay, they worry, I'm chilling I'm not worried.
Speaker 3I never said I was worried, sweetheart. I just said, you know, we would much rather play okay see than the nuggets. But we're still not worried. We're not ducking no smoke. We're gonna play who in front of us, period. But we're still not worried. We're not ducking no smoke, we're going to play who's in front of us, period. And while we're on the subject of the NBA, we did do NBA Fantasy this year and Dom, your girl, won her first championship.
Speaker 3I won my first I won my first NBA fantasy championship and, I must say, it feels amazing. I remember Dez. I remember three rows telling me like you know, cavell, like you done been in it a couple years now, like I'm expecting some big things from you, and when we drafted, I felt like my team was sorry. I'm not going to lie to you, but I think everybody felt their team was sorry.
Speaker 3Man, Joel got hurt. Joel got hurt, Tyrese Halliburton got hurt. For me and it wasn't looking too good, but, man, I came from the back, I ran them down and I won the championship. It started off with me beating First of all. I beat three rows. Was that the first round? I beat three rows in the first round and then beat lisa in the second round.
Speaker 3It was easy oh, okay, okay, it was, unless you finish um, and then I I did have to play a tough championship round because we were going back and forth, man them, them numbers was changing, but but I pulled it out in the end and, uh, so yeah, I'm the champion of um. What's what's our league called? Oh, do we have a name for our league? Yeah, I have a name, for the chicken was football.
Speaker 1That's, yeah, that's football Dang what?
Speaker 2is that Life we chose, yeah, life we chose. Yeah, life we chose.
Speaker 3so I'm the champion of the life. We chose league also um me and lisa were in a, was in a free league and I beat her in the championship. It really wasn't a competition. I blew her out by like 800 900 do you have any comments for?
Speaker 3trey for trey clemon oh yeah, yeah, you know, I had to come with the receipt. I had to come with the receipts because our boy trey, you know, at at the beginning was like, oh, it's going to be easy taking y'all money. I almost thought he licked his fingers too loud. This is going to be easy, this is good, right here, like I got y'all. And of course, when I sent that receipt after I won the championship, he left the group chat.
Speaker 4He entered the stage left.
Speaker 3No, man. And yeah, you know. But honestly, it feels good to win something like that, especially when there's money involved. So shout out to Life, we Chose League. Shout out to Three Roles for running a really good, I think I got like 240.
Speaker 1Hey, Shalise, it sounds like the road to the championship went through you. It did so okay.
Speaker 2So let me comment, but before I do, I do want to say Congratulations to Vils for winning Both leagues. I want to preface by saying that. But I also want to say that the paid league that we were in that was hosted by Three Rose. Um, yes, she got me and I didn't. Okay, I won't make excuses for that. That I won't make excuses for. I won't make excuses for that, that I won't make excuses for, okay.
Speaker 2I won't make excuses for that one I did. I did Because what I wanted to say. I battled injury, I caught the injury bug that week and I also did not start one of my players and left him sitting 59 points on the bench. But that's that.
Speaker 3But we both started that way. Remember the first day of our competition? In that round you had forgot to start somebody and I had forgot to take somebody out of my starting lineup that was out and he was like yeah, you forgot to move him too. And I'm like dang it's already after 6 o'clock. They didn't already start it, so yeah but anyway, I'll take that.
Speaker 2Yeah, now the second league. Big dog, I now friend, you won, bro, you won. I ain't gonna even count now that second, the second league, now that's different. I totally, I totally forgot about that other league cause. I was so focused on that one when I lost go ahead, finish, I the league, because I was so focused on that one. When I lost go ahead, finish I. Didn't make no line up changes me and Lee's were killing that league from a jump.
Speaker 3So we both knew that we were going to be. Well, I figured we were going to be in the championship game. But guess what? The last week I also forgot to start line ups and I still beat her by 700-800 points without even like going to go check, because it's a free league, but it was a championship round, but yeah. So we both kind of like was in the same boat.
Speaker 2So did you. I never even checked it, ever, ever. And then when I realized, I'm like oh shit, I forgot, we got another, I got you, but you made it to the championship round without checking.
Speaker 2No the championship round. I did not check at all because I didn't know, because we played against Nisi. Shout out Nisi. I played against Nisi the round before, but that was two weeks. I didn't know. It was two weeks, so I stopped checking after that first week. So really I should have lost against Nisi too, but she obviously wasn't checking in I know you be listening, shut up.
Speaker 2But yeah, yeah, you got me. Oh, yeah, I'm gonna wrap it up, but yeah, you got me. Shout out to for beating me twice to get to her championships, let's go, you gotta go through. Goliath, you gotta go through. Goliath feels great to win. You gotta go through Goliath, it feels great to win, by the way.
Speaker 4I wanna go back to back.
Speaker 3I got one question before we move on three rows has anybody went back to back in your league before?
Speaker 1as far as basketball, nba, fantasy, basketball ain't nobody went back to back in football or basketball it's not easy, she wants to defend her honor absolutely but is that we wrapping up.
Speaker 2NBA.
Speaker 3Yeah, that's it, it's not easy it's not easy she wants to defend her honor?
Speaker 2Okay, absolutely, but that'll be wrapping up NBA. Yeah, that's it All right man Play-ins start this week Vails and Rose on their knees and praying for a victory tomorrow.
Speaker 4And I'm chilling till Sunday.
Speaker 2That's all I got to say about that All right, I ain't busy, drop the beat, we'll be quick. Texas Rangers they're doing a damn thing. I'm proud of them. They still look special. They've dropped a few games, but overall we look good. I don't know if y'all have catched any Ranger games or anything like that In the background?
Speaker 3yes, for sure, because I mean they're the defending champs, so you definitely gotta put eyes on them. I just hope that we can defend our championship. At least let us make it to the playoffs. I definitely want to see us in the playoffs again. Last year was a special run and so I'm hoping we got a lot of games left. We're hosting All-Star Weekend this season. I'm excited about the Rangers and to see what we're going to do.
Speaker 2Same. Likewise, like you said, it's a million games in the baseball season, so too early to get excited. But I do want to just point out we are leading our division the American League. West we are number one, sitting at a 9-8 record. The American League West we are number one, Sitting at a 9-8 record. We failed at Houston this past weekend. We lost that series with Houston, but we also beat them when they played here. We won that series.
Speaker 4So I mean it's going to be a teeter-totter. Right now, Houston is last in our division.
Speaker 2You know I hate Houston, but don't think that's going to last, right.
Speaker 1Like we're early.
Speaker 2I'm not even a hater like that. Houston's going to find their way back up. They're battling injury and that's what's causing them. A lot of their pitchers are out. We're battling injury. We lost somebody. Oh my gosh, I cannot even think of his name. Was it Young, Josh Young.
Speaker 3Oh yeah, Josh Young.
Speaker 2So we lost Josh Young? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, Josh Young. So we lost Josh Young a major hitter for us.
Speaker 2He's out. I don't know how long, I can't even remember how severe the injury is, but I'm going to keep watching the Rangers. They got the whole city turned up, the whole city excited. I'm trying to find a game to go to, but yeah, right now we are leading the AL West, so shout out to the Texas Rangers, keep doing the thing. We look very special. It seems like we haven't fell off at all, and that's what I want to see out of a defending champion. Let's go ahead and move on to our Dallas Stars. The Dallas Stars are also doing a damn thing.
Speaker 2They are going into the playoffs as well, they have won their division, they are division champions and I believe, if I'm not, they are going into the playoffs as well. They have won their division, they are division champions and I believe, if I'm not mistaken, at one point we were sitting in number two in the league. Okay, so the playoffs are starting soon. We're not big, big hockey people, but again, we are homers and we like to root for the home team yeah, we definitely keep an eye on them.
Speaker 3So yo shout out to all our Texas teams we were in the finals last year, right no, or the Western Conference finals yeah, the round before. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
