I like sports and that's it. Yo, yo, yo, yo, it's the one and only Lise.
Speaker 2:And it's your girl, vels, aka Vellyell, if that's what you want to call me.
Speaker 1:And together we are.
Speaker 2:Locked In Sports.
Speaker 1:Yo man, it's the bonus episode.
Speaker 3:Yep.
Speaker 1:The bonus episode, and we are back, we are back, we are back, we are back. Episode and we are back, we are back, we are back, we are back.
Speaker 1:Um, you know, we had to jump on real quick because there's been a lot of craziness going on a lot and and we just we just been away for for a very long time, man and um, we do apologize. You know, life kind of gets a hold of you. You gotta kind of gotta step back and and and kind of get your footing. But we are happy to be back chatting and talking about all this craziness that's going on in the sports world, but before we get off into it, vales, how the hell are you?
Speaker 2:I mean, I'm good, I can't complain. Like you said, there's been a lot that's happened since we've last recorded. You know we've. We had Thanksgiving, we had Christmas. It's a new year, 2025. I mean it's February. Now, like you know, a lot has happened. Completed my first year of head coaching, that's right. Head varsity coach at a new school yeah, happened um. Completed my first year of head coaching, that's right, let's take that off the head.
Speaker 2:Varsity coach at a new school yeah, and, uh, you know it wasn't the year that I, like, would have wanted it to be, um, but uh, my girls did grow, we did get better. Um, I feel like I got better as a coach, obviously. Obviously, it's always room for improvement and room for growth, and so I'm just excited about you know what the future holds. But I mean, yeah, still here and, you know, still watching a lot of sports, listening to a lot of music, eating a lot of good food, there we go, but yeah, that's all that's been up with me. What about you?
Speaker 1:Yeah, man, I've been doing good. Maybe some may even say great, uh, I've been promoted twice at my job hey, hold on, let's clap that up.
Speaker 1:Hey, celebrate over here man, black women in tech stand up. Um, so it's been amazing, um into my 2024 and, even better, start to my 2025. I just recently came off of a spiritual fast and that's been amazing, enlightening. Right now, I'm just in a good space, man, and I just want to just be positive. Going into this year and, you know, with all the different things that's going on in the world, I just want to make sure I'm centered and I'm positive, despite the craziness. Right now, yeah for sure.
Speaker 3:All right?
Speaker 1:well, let's not waste any more time Again. This is a bonus episode. Once we record like a real one, maybe we'll give a little bit more into our personal lives. But this is just a bonus episode and we just want to just. You know, we had to do this because it was like so much is going on Without any further ado. Beezy, please drop that beat. That's right, you know, when Beezy drops that beat, we're getting ready to talk about the nfl.
Speaker 3:Yep, yes, lord, we're about to talk about the nfl, all right.
Speaker 1:So since it's been so long, let's kind of recap the nfl season a little bit. Vills, did you pay attention to it at all? Like just overall the NFL season Did you watch that?
Speaker 2:For the most part, I want to say I did. You know right now, obviously, you know Super Bowl is Sunday, so a lot has happened over the course of the season. But yeah, I paid attention a little bit. I mean the teams that, uh, I think the Detroit lions. They had a really good year. Obviously they didn't make the big dance, but they had a really good year. Lamar Jackson was Lamar Jackson. Um, I, I feel like he should win the MVP this year, but, um, it doesn't help his case that he did lose to um Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills in the I forgot what game it was, that was the AFC was it the AFC championship?
Speaker 1:no, that was the second round, so was that the semifinal?
Speaker 2:yeah, I think it was the semis which?
Speaker 2:that should have actually been like a championship game right, right, let's see who else just like, really stood out. Deshaun Watson is done not done in Cleveland, but like he's, he should just be done. I feel like he should be done. He tore something, he got injured, yeah, he just came out. Yeah, and I'm trying to think because, like it's been so much that's happened since we've last recorded the Cowboys well, you know, we'll get into that in a little bit who else? Who else? Did anybody surprise me or shock me?
Speaker 2:Rookie season for Jaden Daniels. Jaden Daniels man. Jaden Daniels man almost could have made the Super Bowl in Washington. He came out of nowhere as a surprise, like you know, as far as being a rookie carrying the Washington Commanders, as far as he did, um, I mean, we beat him, you know, but that second game they kind of won at the buzzer, quote-unquote against us, but we had no business winning that first game in the first place against them. When I say we, I mean the Cowboys, um, and then, uh, chicago still sucked after they traded. What's his name? Fields.
Speaker 1:Oh yeah, justin.
Speaker 2:Fields, justin Fields, to the Steelers, which you know it wasn't too much drama, but you know, fields ended up going to the Steelers, like Lise just said, and he was starting at first, and then Russell Wilson came in and took over, in which they were looking pretty good. They just didn't make it far. What else I mean? What else happened? Um, carlos didn't do much, I mean saquon barkley just oh yeah freaking took over the nfl saquon man.
Speaker 2:Saquon barkley did his thing with the eagles his first year with the eagles, um, and I know that was man, king, king Henry, which, again, the Cowboys didn't pick him up in the offseason last year, but you know he did his thing in Baltimore. And is there anything else that I'm missing? That is surprising. Oh, the 49ers didn't perform as well as I thought that they would have. Very underwhelming, yeah, it was a very underwhelming season for the 49ers, yeah. And then, oh, what's his name? Aaron Rodgers didn't really have a really good year after coming off of that injury from last year, the first game of the season last year, and then this year, you know, had a full season, but you know they weren't the jets, they weren't, yeah you got my mind rolling, you know as you yeah, yeah, I'm just, I'm just trying to questions for you I'm just trying to think of a big storylines.
Speaker 1:You know that we haven't talked about yeah, I mean because it's been a lot but aaron rogers in particular. Man should he just hang it up? Is he done? What do you think?
Speaker 2:I'd say give it one more year. I'd say for aaron give it one more year. He's still mobile, he can still move and I didn't watch a lot of their games so I really can't like pinpoint where the fall off is for him Um, but I would say for Aaron I mean, he hasn't announced his retirement, so give him one more year after this year, if you don't make any noise, if your team is not a winning team, if you're not going to the playoffs yeah, hang it up Aaron's 40 yeah, I mean, yep, so, and so was Tom Brady, you know, I mean but and so, like that's what I'm saying, like can we compare Aaron to Tom Brady, though I mean that's good.
Speaker 2:But yeah right, he's not Tom. But I mean, if you, if you still got a little bit in the tank, you want something, you got something left to prove, then try to prove it, but after this year, I mean if you don't hang it up.
Speaker 1:Did you watch his documentary on Netflix?
Speaker 2:Whose Aaron Rodgers? I didn't, I did not watch it. It's so much to watch on TV. He's a strange cat. I'm sure that's a different kind of dude.
Speaker 1:I encourage you and anybody else that have not seen that, just watch it. Okay, he's a different kind of fella.
Speaker 3:Yeah.
Speaker 2:He's different, to say the least. Though what about Russell? Do you think Russell should hang it up? No, because he played well. He played well, russell played well, and I think that what's the head coach's name?
Speaker 1:Mike Tomlin.
Speaker 2:Mike Tomlin. You know, still, he still has a winning. You know what I mean. He's a winning coach and so, like, I feel like again, squeeze all you can out of Russell, but obviously if he doesn't perform, then you know, you have a backup in Justin Fields who is young and ready, you know what I mean. He's just waiting his turn and so, yeah, it was a lot of things that happened in the NFL. It was.
Speaker 1:Kansas City doing Kansas City things, oh man.
Speaker 2:Yeah, and I mean it was. I don't know, it's some juju going on with Kansas City because, like even the year prior, or yeah, the year prior when they won, I didn't believe in them then and they really didn't have a really good year. Because when I was doing NFL fantasy the previous year, mahomes was my quarterback. He had been my quarterback for two years straight and I saw how they performed last year and this year. They just looked like the Kansas City Chiefs and they were finding ways to win games. That was just really just unbelievable. And so it's almost like the writing is on the wall for them just to be just dominant, for you know however long they're going to be dominant. But yeah, I mean, yeah, that's just where I'm sitting at with the NFL and, like I said, we'll talk about the Cowboys, but yeah, that's just where I'm at. What about you?
Speaker 1:I mean same. I mean Saquon Barkley, you know, stood out the most to me, obviously he did his thing he was on my, excuse me, he was on my fantasy team oh man, I didn't know that yeah, he was on. I had like several so, but yeah, he was on one of my fancy teams and he had a hell of a season. I mean, I just wonder, you know we'll get there um king henry um again had a phenomenal season as well.
Speaker 1:Like it seems, like every game he was breaking off for 100 and so yards a game, so especially the beginning of the season. Like you, nobody could stop him right um the jayden daniels, just jayden daniels plus just the washington commanders.
Speaker 2:Period um with a couple of our yeah, previous cowboys coach.
Speaker 1:Yeah it seems like they got a lot of our Ex-players and they got our coach, dan Quinn. And man, it's amazing. It's amazing how, when you Leave an organization like the Cowboys and you go somewhere else, you find yourself almost at the Super Bowl. It's amazing. I don't know how that happens. It's so amazing that that happens.
Speaker 2:I mean, look at Kellen Moore, he is inellen Moore, he is in the Super Bowl, he is in the.
Speaker 3:Super Bowl. It's amazing to me, honestly, yeah.
Speaker 1:Oh boy, and Detroit man. I was really pulling for Detroit. Detroit man, they hooped, they hooped all season and it just I don't know they lost that game. It got down to that one, and you know Washington took them out and I was not expecting that.
Speaker 2:Who we didn't talk about is Jordan Love.
Speaker 1:Jordan.
Speaker 2:Love and the Packers, I mean they were decent. Was he injured this year?
Speaker 1:I think for a little bit.
Speaker 2:Yeah, so I mean they didn't really make as much noise. The most that I remember from Jordan Love and the Packers is how they beat us to sleep in last year's playoffs, but other than that they didn't really do too much.
Speaker 1:No.
Speaker 2:They didn't really do too much this year.
Speaker 1:No, and the Rams? They came on late into the season because Puka and the cool was out.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:But they caught a stride so they kind of tried to make noise late and man they trying to trade cooper wasn't it cooper cup. Um, I don't know if I I agree with that, um, but you know teams like to go in different directions they do um so uh saints sucked oh, thanks for terrible the raiders sucked yeah so raiders are terrible saints are terrible.
Speaker 1:And one thing I want to say real quick about these god damn these saints, man, the saints boy, they beat us. That's why I said the saints, the saints super bowl, was them playing the cowboys? Yeah, man, they beat us. And then they was having like a little. Was it like the little parade, the second line on our streets and stuff like that?
Speaker 2:I'm like, oh, my goodness, one game that was the only game they won a season and after that I think they like lost what six, seven straight right after that and I'm like, okay, saints fans yeah, saints relax you're not that good, but you're not that good because we're not good.
Speaker 3:Right.
Speaker 1:So okay, you should win, right.
Speaker 3:Mm-hmm.
Speaker 1:But yeah, I just wanted to clown the Saints man Earn, I see you, man. All right, let's talk about these Cowboys. Let's go on and talk about this Cowboys season.
Speaker 2:Describe the Cowboys season in two words the two words that I have in my notes cowboys suck. I just, you know, this was probably one of the most disappointing seasons, um, that I've ever like encountered or witnessed. I just, first of all, I didn't have high hopes. I didn't have high hopes coming into the season. You know, I just kind of wanted to see what they would do. And, yeah, they, yeah, they did what they did and there was some spurts of goodness, there was some spurts of, like you know, celebration. But I feel like and I'm and I'm being honest when I say this like I did not cheer as much. I really didn't go. I didn't go any. Now that I think about it, I didn't go anywhere to watch the game. In years past I would go to like a cowboys watch party, maybe even go to Texas live. You know, like I didn't spend no money going to go watch them play, nowhere, and it was a few Sundays, more than a few, that I didn't even put on Cowboys gear, and that's really how bad the season was.
Speaker 2:This year we ended up losing Dak to injury, which I've said this once before on the show, I've said it plenty of times, but I'm over Dak man. I respect him, you know, and he did what he did with Zeke. And, speaking of Zeke, zeke came back. Terrible. He's gone again, which I still got. Love for Zeke. I'll never forget the rookie year Zeke and the rookie year Dak.
Speaker 2:But I just think that we need to go in a different direction from Dak in the rookie year Dak. But I just think that we need to go in a different direction from Dak and I don't think we're going to do that, obviously, because you know we just paid Dak last summer and we just paid CD. But CD, I think, is fine. You know somebody we can get him a quarterback and to get him the ball, like we're fine. But Dak, I'm just.
Speaker 2:I'm over Dak, I'm over this organization, the coach that we just hired, whatever you call him. I'm over Jerry, like he's, I feel like he is sabotaging our team and I don't know if it's on purpose. I can't say it's on purpose, because I know he wants to see them win. Well, I would hope he does, but I'm over them right now, man, I'm. I'm really glad that we did not make the playoffs, because it just would have been nothing but another disappointment, and we had enough of that during the regular season. So, yes, my two words would be cowboys suck, and I really don't know what the future holds. I don't really know what it looks like. I mean, obviously we got to get this new coach a chance. We have to, I mean, because this is who they decided to go with. So, like we obviously got to get this new coach a chance. But you know he's like you know we're going to win championships and all that, but he's just saying what he had to say.
Speaker 1:But yeah, I just I don't know the direction that this team is going in. Do you find it to be malpractice, to just did they really even interview anybody else?
Speaker 2:I heard that they didn't interview a whole lot of coaches.
Speaker 1:Like, do you find it kind of like malpractice, just to just go with what you know?
Speaker 2:I wouldn't call it malpractice, or you could, but it seemed really lazy on their part, like you didn't even put in the effort, right, you didn't put in the effort to go get you you.
Speaker 1:You had so many options, so many. What was that? Ben johnson from detroit, you had a chance. Aaron glenn, come on now like it was a few. Freaking. It's not that I'm saying he was going to solve our problems. What's the coach? Bill Belichick, Bill Belichick North.
Speaker 2:Carolina, Yep, but even when he did go to North Carolina and verbally committed to them like he hadn't signed anything yet Nah, he was waiting, he was trying to see Right and you had that opportunity to still go get him. You had the opportunity to bring prom to dallas like carol like there was so many big name coaches out there that you could have went with, but you got sean the gatorade guy.
Speaker 2:I call him the gatorade yeah, and that was funny when I saw that post like that was hilarious. But yeah, I don't even know who that guy is. Nobody he was. I guess he was the. He said he was the oc last year. Oh child, yeah, I don't know who that is. He's the OC last year. Oh child, yeah, I don't know who that is. He's the.
Speaker 1:Gatorade guy. He's the guy that hands out the towel when you come off the field. Right, he's that guy Nobody knows that guy you don't hire that guy as your head coach.
Speaker 2:You don't.
Speaker 1:Okay, who is that guy? Nobody knows that guy Apparently. You know what Jerry said.
Speaker 2:He's a a career assistant, so why do you make a career? He clearly did anybody else even want to interview him. Had he gotten any interviews from any other organization? I doubt it. So why would we hire him as our head coach? Like it's right there for you to see some stuff? You just gotta make sense.
Speaker 1:I don't remember them saying brian, brian shottenheimer had to weigh his options. I never saw that, oh, brian Schottenheimer's in between two or three different teams. No, just our dumb asses.
Speaker 2:When I saw that notification I was like who?
Speaker 1:I knew we was going to hire him. When he came back for a second interview I said they're going to hire him.
Speaker 2:So this is where we are. This is where we are as a franchise, an organization and a fan base. This is this is where we are. We're still the laughingstock of the league. Nobody respects us. Still like. We're still the same I don't even respect them.
Speaker 2:We're still the same old cowboys and we are. Let's just stop this narrative too. We are not america's team. We're not. We are not until we prove otherwise. We are not america's team. No, and I don't even know. Like off the top of my head, I don't even know who would be right now. Yeah, probably the kansas city people hate, them right now. Well, I know they hate they. Almost like the golden state warriors back when they were winning all those uh championships. But we are not.
Speaker 1:I know for sure that it ain't the Cowboys, we're not America's team um no, I mean you're right, I mean we are, but we're not and we're not playing like it, we're not acting like it and guess what I'm considering doing on Sunday wearing a cowboy sweater.
Speaker 3:I'm still delusional, clearly, yeah because it's just like I don't what, what else would?
Speaker 2:I put up like I normally always do. That. Yeah, because we're never. We're never in the superbowl. We haven't been in the superbowl since I was what? Three, four. So it's just like I always, you know, when I go to superbowl parties or whatever, like I'll wear, you know I'll rep my team. You know now, other years were respectable, I Bowl parties or whatever, like I'll wear it, you know I'll rep my team. You know Now, other years were respectable, I could walk in with my Cowboys to phone. But now I'm really taking a chance in life almost Because, like, what are you doing? Like why do I have this on? I'm wearing it because you know it's supposed to be cool Sunday and it's a sweater and I want to wear it. But you know I just Put it on. You're a fan, I'm going to be talked about Put it on.
Speaker 1:Yeah, man, you're a fan.
Speaker 2:I don't this team. I don't respect them right now. I don't trust them right now. I don't believe in them right now. I just I'm tired of Dak, I'm tired of Jerry.
Speaker 1:I said the NFL and I made this post. I said the NFL should force Jerry Jones to sell the team, Deem him incapable of running a franchise.
Speaker 2:He clearly is.
Speaker 1:The man is over 80 years old and clearly maybe it's dementia, I don't know, but something is not right upstairs because, like you said and I said, who hires the towel and the gatorade guy as their head coach? Nobody has interviewed schottenheimer for a head coaching position. Now that I know let me, let me google, I don't think so. Nobody has hired or interviewed schottenheimer for a head coaching position. So why, jerry, in your brain cells did you feel like this was a great hire? You know why? Because it's lazy.
Speaker 1:It's because you don't really want change right you want to, you want somebody just to go along, get along and go along. And that's why we're stuck in this place of meteorocracy, year after year after year after year times 20, because now it's been like almost 30 years in the same state of this and and to fire my car. Okay, listen, I know I said we should come from mccarthy's head if we didn't go anywhere. I did say that, but, given the circumstances, he was playing with an injured team or he was coaching an injured team.
Speaker 1:If you were going to fire McCarthy, you should have did that shit when we lost to Green.
Speaker 3:Bay the way we did. No, for real, that was your opportunity.
Speaker 1:You don't fire him because he didn't have his team. That wasn't necessary because, honestly, I'm shocked, he was able to conjure up seven wins out of that bunch.
Speaker 2:Right, and he was still, and you could tell McCarthy was, I feel like he was trying to keep his job. He was trying to show like hey, I don't care if it's the last game of the season or the first game of the season, like we're still out here, I'm still calling the plays, we're still trying to make winning plays, we're not going to rest our players, like we're going to play. So I really felt like they were going to bring them back.
Speaker 1:Yeah. I did too, because they was having meetings. But I guess there was some communication breakdown. From my understanding, the disagreement was the years.
Speaker 2:The extension yeah.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so I think McCarthy maybe had one in four or five and the Cowboys only wanted to offer three, whatever. Like I said it wasn't right to let him go after this season. Honestly, I think he did well, given the circumstances.
Speaker 2:My thing is why didn't you keep the same energy with Jason Garrett? I know you all ready to get rid of McCarthy and you don't want to sign him to an extension. Why didn't you keep the same energy with the clapper? Like I don't understand that you wasted all of those years 10, it was a decade, it was a decade, so you don't even realize how long it was.
Speaker 1:It was 10 years with Gary sitting over there clapping. I think this is misplaced anger. And who are we going to get there? And then, what baffles the hell out of me, dak? What made Jerry feel like he had to rush and extend Dak?
Speaker 2:he did not man he got injured.
Speaker 1:So check this out even if you wanted to keep your boy that he got injured, you would have got him for like way cheaper than what you've gotten him for. That is now the highest paid quarterback in the league and I'm trying to figure out why. Why is he great during the season? Hell, yeah, that looks like a top five quarterback, maybe sometimes a top three quarterback during the season. Couldn't be more proud. Couldn't be more proud? Got my Dak jersey on proudly. But it's just when we get into the playoffs something tends to happen.
Speaker 2:I don't know that Homer Simpson meme that's what tends to happen. That's exactly what happens. That Homer Simpson meme that's what tends to happen. That's exactly what happens.
Speaker 1:That's exactly what happens whenever we get into the playoffs with Dak, so I'm not paying that guy $65 million extra.
Speaker 2:I'm not doing that. I think they felt the pressure. Why did you feel the pressure? Because they felt like which I would have been fine going into the regular season with Cooper Rush or even Trey Lance. I would have felt comfortable because we're not season with Cooper Rush or even Trey Lance. I would have felt comfortable because we're not going to rush to pay you, dak. You haven't proven anything, bro. Yeah, you've been here since what? 2013? But we don't have to rush to pay. You. Count on your hands how many playoff games you won. Maybe only one hand? What are we doing?
Speaker 1:We don't have to rush to pay you. They never had to rush because guess what? Jerry told us at the end of that Green Bay debacle that he was all in.
Speaker 2:He lied.
Speaker 1:And I'm trying to figure out where was the all in, because nothing happened in the offseason, so to me I already knew I was done. I was like I watched the games. I don't really want to paying attention to the games. I did put on my gear because it's just a ritual for me on Sundays, because I'm just a brain dick or brainless slash, brain dead cowboy fan.
Speaker 1:So I'm just used to oh, on Sundays I'm going to put on my cowboy gear, but I didn't care, and I'm like Vales, I didn't go spend any money. Did I get anything new this season? Hell, no, I was not going to put any more money into that travesty that they call a franchise. So my thing is, jerry, you didn't want to spend any money to make your team any better, so why pay debt? Hey, how about this?
Speaker 2:Let's take, let's take, and maybe let's go grab a quarterback, because I would have taken a shador yeah I would have taken a cam ward well, I'm not a big fan of but okay but I would have taken my chances right it's better than maybe I mean at this point. It would have been a perfect story had we just waited and then hired Pram and then tanked for Shador and got him. That would have been the perfect, like marriage that would have been great.
Speaker 1:That would have been great. But even if we didn't get Shador, it was laziness on the coaching side, it was.
Speaker 3:It was. It was laziness on the coaching side. It was, it was.
Speaker 1:And we're going to move on, because I could literally go off on them all day long.
Speaker 2:It shows that you just didn't care about what the fans felt. They didn't care. Like y'all are billionaires, y'all making this money. Like it's going to run anyway, you're going to make your money anyway, but it's just like yeah, and they're going to pay attention to it anyway.
Speaker 1:They're going to support it anyway Not me. Usually I'm going to go to a game. I'm a type of fan that I will actually fly to another city to watch y'all dumbasses play. Not last year, I didn't, and I'm not going this year either. You went to training camp, I went yeah, I did, I did, I even hauled my little butt up there and went and saw y'all practice out there in Fresco at. I ain't doing it again. I am not wasting my gas on this mess, Jerry. I don't care if it was free.
Speaker 2:Right, the gas ain't free.
Speaker 1:The gas is definitely not free, and my time, my time, wasn't free because I took off for work to do that too. All right, we got the 12th pick in the draft. Obviously, we have a gazillion holes in the roster.
Speaker 3:Yeah.
Speaker 1:Who are you? Okay, because I don't know. If you know everybody. Are you taking Jenty? Are you taking Jenty at number 12?
Speaker 2:Jenty, what position does he play?
Speaker 1:He's a running back from Boise State.
Speaker 2:He's also up for a high. Honestly, I'm not going to sit up here and count. I don't really know who's coming out the draft.
Speaker 1:But we just need to Do. You think we need a running back? Okay, okay, out of all the holes. What do we need to prioritize with that 12 pick?
Speaker 2:I think our running backs towards the end of the year once we started using them. You believe in Rico Doudle? I think Rico Doud, he did his thing. And real quick shout-out to Michael Parsons because he did break that sack record. I think it was the Cowboys sack record, okay, and I forgot what it was now at this point because we hadn't talked about it in so long. But, like shout-out to him, he still played even though he had got injured at the beginning of the season. He still played even though he had got injured at the beginning of the season. He still came back and was still playing like a lion. So a shout-out to him.
Speaker 2:But I mean, I really don't know which hole to fill. I don't know which one we should. I don't know. I don't know the direction we should go. Yeah, I just don't know Right. But you know, we're really not bad bad at drafting, we're not, you know. But I think it's just for us, it's the overall team aspect. So I and I I trust them in the draft is what I'll say. Okay, so whoever we get, I believe that they're gonna be good for us. I just don't trust us as a whole, like as an organization. So I mean? What do you think about? Who do you think we should get?
Speaker 1:I do Well me. I think we should grab Gentry in the draft. I will say this about Schottenheimer he wants to run the ball, he wants the identity to be run first, although Dotto played great.
Speaker 3:He did.
Speaker 1:He started to put it together as the season went on. I think that we need to have a premier back Now. We also need to have a premier back Now. We also need to have a stable offensive line, and our offensive line is just not what it used to be.
Speaker 1:Now granted, it is young, but our talent, tyler Smith, had a great year. Tyler Smith had a great year, but I forgot the other one, the Mozzie Is Mozzie. On Mozzie Smith, he did. If our O-line could come along I think that is another area of importance in this draft is to draft the o-line. But I also I would go grab jenty at 12 and then fill out the draft with an o-line and I think we should be okay If we can take the pressure off the deck having to throw the ball as much, we should be okay. So, yes, establish the run, we'll see how things go. Now another big thing Michael Parsons, he's coming, he's due, he's due.
Speaker 3:So what do you do?
Speaker 1:Are you going gonna resign him? Are you gonna trade him? I hope not, or are you gonna let him walk? I'm asking you this no, I'm resigning. I'm resigning.
Speaker 2:Mike, I'm sorry, we can't let him go to another team.
Speaker 1:That cannot happen even if you know you can get a good return on picks because we got holes to fill. Right, and there's only so many picks we got.
Speaker 2:I mean, that's a tough question. I just see I've seen what Micah can do. I know he wants to be a cowboy for life and I just think that we should keep Micah and just try to fill the other holes. I'm not mad at our special teams. What's the dude Not Aubrey? Oh, oh, matter of fact, shout out to Aubrey, bro, our best player this season. He kept us in a lot of games, if not won us a lot of games this season, the games that we did win. So shout out to Aubrey. He was and I don't even know what his percentage was and how many kicks he made out of how many he missed, but shout out to Aubrey because he was our best player and I said that at the beginning of the season. We were like two or three games in. I'm like man Aubrey, our best player. Here you go.
Speaker 2:That is crazy, and I'm talking about kicking from 50, kicking from 60. Yeah, I think I almost tried a 70-yarder. Yeah, like, shout out to Aubrey, because he kept us afloat. He did In games that we shouldn't even have. We had no business being in. And then what's the dude that be running the ball back for us Special teams? Oh, turpin, dude that'd be running the ball back for us special teams. Oh, uh, turpin, shout out to turpin. I think I really feel like turpin did his thing as well. He had a couple of um, you know, punt returns that he ran all the way back. So shout out to him. So, like I said, it was spurts. Yeah, you know, in between here and there was moments that we had. But, yeah, yeah, shout out to Aubrey.
Speaker 1:But I feel like Turpin was a pro bowler and you got to decide what you want to do with him because he's up for contract. Oh gosh.
Speaker 2:It's just, I don't know, liz, I don't. I don't know, because I do. I want to win games, I want to get to the playoffs. I want to go deep in the playoffs like I really do. You know what I mean. And so we got some decisions to make.
Speaker 1:we do and we shall see man. But as and we're going to wrap up the Cowboys saving man it just right now, it's just a way to see man. How much does Jerry want to win? And you got to start spending that bread. You got to start spending that bread you got plenty of it I don't care about. No, no, stand under the luxury taxes or whatever the salary, I don't care. I don't care about none of that. You are a billionaire, figure it out figure it out.
Speaker 2:Alright, let's move on.
Speaker 1:Super Bowl coming up this Sunday yep we got our arch nemesis, the Philadelphia Eagles, and America's most hated, the Kansas City Chiefs. We both said that the Kansas City Chiefs have they find ways to win. They just find freaking ways to win. Special thanks to Patty Mahomes. The Eagles they didn't just have a great season, but they were good. They were good. Thanks to Saquon came and really turned that team up.
Speaker 2:Saquon was a godsend for them. Jalen Hurts was down a couple times with injuries and they still found they were in the Super Bowl.
Speaker 1:So yeah, definitely Saquon did his thing, broke records and everything and I'm just trying to figure out, like you know, when Saquon became a free agent, where it was anyway. Yeah, so Sunday's the game. Who you got, who's winning it?
Speaker 2:You know this is like a. It's almost like a lose-lose situation for me. I don't want to see the Chiefs three-peat, but I also don't want to see the Eagles win.
Speaker 1:Well, somebody's got to win, somebody's got to win.
Speaker 2:It ain't going to be two losers, right, but I can bet against Pat Mahomes. So I'm going to go with the Kansas City Chiefs for the first ever three-peat in NFL history, which is even crazy to even say. But yeah, I'm going with Pat Mahomes now.
Speaker 1:Man, yeah, same, because the hate that I have for the Philadelphia Eagles, man like the Eagles cannot win another Super Bowl before we do, like they already. You know what I'm saying. They already done won one recently. They cannot win another one.
Speaker 2:Nah.
Speaker 1:And that's the only reason. That is the only reason, as a Cowboys fan that you know I hate to say that I am at times that is the only reason. If it wasn't for that. I love Jalen Hurts, mm-hmm, you know. So I would definitely would be pulling for the Eagles. But because I can't stand Philadelphia, I want to see Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs do the unthinkable which is three-peat this year in the Super Bowl.
Speaker 3:Yep.
Speaker 1:Alright, I think those are our picks. We both are pulling for the Kansas City Chiefs. Now what I call the main event.
Speaker 2:Right, what I'm'm gonna be waiting for uh, it's halftime, baby.
Speaker 1:Yes, not for real, though man, our boy, kendrick lamar kung fu kenny, they call him K-Dot. He is headlining the Super Bowl halftime show. Kendrick has been on a remarkable run this year, baby.
Speaker 2:Well, last year, last year, this year, it's still up. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's still up, yeah.
Speaker 1:Man, I'm looking forward to that and K-Dot's not coming along. I'm looking forward to that and K-Dot's not coming along. He's also supposed to be bringing my girl that I love, sza, along for the ride, so I'm looking so forward to this halftime show, I mean.
Speaker 2:Kendrick is, like, our favorite rapper, so this is just like it's gonna be crazy when that when that announcement was made, it was like because I mean, obviously we hadn't, we hadn't been. Well, we, we didn't.
Speaker 2:We talk about the beef a little bit we would yeah so we, we really hadn't been on since, like, the beef, like, had officially ended. Yeah, and you know, soon after the beef officially ended, um, the super bowl. Now, the super bowl halftime show announcement was made and it was none other than Kendrick Kung Fu, kenny Lamar, yes, and so it's going to be lit. I mean, obviously there was backlash. Oh, of course there was backlash, because the Super Bowl will be in New Orleans and a lot of people felt that, you know, wayne should have been headlining the Super Bowl halftime show.
Speaker 2:And unfortunately for Lil Wayne fans even though, like, I'm a Wayne fan too, yeah, I'm a Wayne fan for sure it just was only right that Kendrick did this. I'm sorry, and I'm not trying to hurt no feelings, I ain't trying to step on no toes, but this did not give me Kendrick. I mean, this just did not give me, like Wayne, even though it was in New Orleans. It made sense and we still don't know what Kendrick got up his sleeve. He may bring Wayne out as a special guest, he may.
Speaker 1:He may bring, you know, your money and and cash money and all them out, but you know, we never, you never know you never know, and and to your point too, too, and I'm going to let you keep going about Wayne Like I'm a Wayne head and it's just it would have been a moment. I can see how that could have been. A moment Could have been, but nah, I mean, ken was on a hell of a run in 24. And he just got that catalog. That and Wayne does too.
Speaker 3:Right.
Speaker 1:Wayne has that catalog. Wayne got that crossover catalog.
Speaker 3:Mm-hmm.
Speaker 1:But I mean I just Wayne. We haven't seen Wayne perform in a very long time.
Speaker 3:Very very long time.
Speaker 1:And it just. You know, this is Kendra Lamar's moment and I hate that it kind of got overshadowed with, you know, Wayne, being a little bitter about it Instead of like congratulating that man first you can congratulate the man first and be like hey I, you know, I kind of had wanted that and you never know, like you say he could bring him out. But I just wanted to speak on that because, like I said, I'm a wayne here. It would have been a moment but, I think we got the right guy wayne.
Speaker 2:We've seen your previous uh performances, sir, your most recent performances. It just wasn't gonna work out. Kendrick is a performer, you are a I don't know. I mean I I miss what you wearing, but like this, just this just wasn't your year, bro. Like I get it, it's, it's in New Orleans and and I understand what that would have meant to the city and all of that, but it just was not for you. This year it wasn't. I'm sorry, it just wasn't. Sorry to all the Lil Wayne fans, but it just was not. This wasn't for him, this was for Kendrick it was definitely for Kendrick man.
Speaker 1:So, with all that being said, let's just play it. I like to play the game of what is he going to perform?
Speaker 2:Yes, man.
Speaker 1:I know that's what we get into, so Vails, I mean, come on, let's spitball First of all, what song is he coming out to?
Speaker 2:He might come out to Do. Do course, you know that's gonna lead into the. I think that's gonna get everybody. I think, okay, let me just say this kendrick could either come out subtle, like he did in euphoria okay, and then like turn it up okay, or he can come out turned up and stay turned up the entire time. I don't know which, I don't know which way he's gonna go, so but I think I feel like tv off will probably be the first, probably be the first.
Speaker 1:I just don't know which direction he's gonna go in I think I think he's gonna come out to not like us. I think that b, I think you know, I think that's gonna be the finale.
Speaker 2:You know what I'm saying. I think that's going to be the finale.
Speaker 1:You think that he's going to close with Not Like Us.
Speaker 2:I think either that or All the Stars will probably be the finale he goes out to. Yeah.
Speaker 1:I can see that man, I know he's going to have to perform. Oh man, I think he's going to have to perform humble.
Speaker 3:Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2:Slow down, uh, humble, yeah, yeah, slow down.
Speaker 2:Uh-huh, be humble. Yeah, sit down, be humble. Yeah, I can see him doing that for sure. Um, I think that he's gonna you know, he's gonna go back and perform some of his oldies, so I think that he'll do. Um, I think he'll do swimming pools. You think he'll do swimming pools. It go, halle Berry, because that was a good one. Okay, yeah, I can see him doing. Well, no, not swimming, I'm tripping, not swimming pools.
Speaker 2:Money trees, money trees. You think he'll do money trees, that's what it is. It go Halle Berry, hallelujah, he might do that one as an oldie. Another oldie would be swimming pools. Uh, I'm an onion and I'm two or three shots. I'm showing you how to turn it up. A notch pool for lifting a dive in. Okay, so I can see him doing that. Just, he gonna, he gonna have a couple of oldies on there on the can see that On the set. I can see him doing he going to do Squabble Up, squabble Up, hey, squabble Up, hey, squabble Up. And I just have a verse on there that is my newfound favorite verse on there, because he kind of he killed it. It was that third verse. I can't even quote it obviously because I don't want to mess up, but I can see him doing that and, like we just mentioned a while ago, all of the stars with scissors, and she's going to be a guest appearance on a halftime show, so I can see them doing all the stars. I can't see them doing Luther.
Speaker 1:That's too slow, that's too slow for the Super Bowl. You don't think he's going to do all right, because you said he did it previously, but I don't know it, just he may, but he may not yeah, you know we gonna be all right.
Speaker 2:Yeah, because it is black history month. First of all, shout out to black history month, so he may, and then I think, I another od in. The last one that I think he'll probably perform is a backseat freestyle. All my life. I want money and power. He spent my life. I won't. Money and power. He spent my life for a diamond and a shawl. Yeah, because specifically for the, martin had a dream.
Speaker 3:Yeah, okay, kendrick had a dream.
Speaker 2:Yeah, like I can see him doing that, but I think, somewhere in between the first and last song, and I think it's going to be the last song he's going to do Not Like Us, and that's the song that I want him to perform so badly, and it's gonna be the last song he gonna do not like us, and that's the song that I want him to perform so badly. And it's not even about Drake, even though it is about Drake, but it's not even about Drake. I think it was because it was the song of the year. Kendrick recently just won five Grammys, like two days ago, for specifically not like us, and so I think and you, you have to do it, and you don't have to say his name, you ain't got to say the verses that you was clowning him on, but the beat, I need to hear the beat, I need to hear the instrumental or something Like I have to, and so I think that he's going to do that For sure.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so I also think he gonna do DNA.
Speaker 2:Yo yeah, loyalty inside my DNA. Yeah, inside my DNA.
Speaker 1:That's gonna hit. Do you think, though? Do you think he will do Euphoria?
Speaker 2:That could be a song that he comes out to. And neutralize Like an only watching silence, because then he gonna end with a don't tell no lie about me and I won't tell truth about you, and then he gonna go into another song. You can go so many different ways like he can. He can continue to be the dead horse, which I'm all here for it. I'm sorry, I mean, I'm still on the grammys.
Speaker 1:He had the whole grammy audience and I understand like the audience is full, like entertainers, he had them all saying a minor man.
Speaker 2:He has to perform, not like he has to like. He has to perform, not like us I'm excited he has to. He got something up his sleeve oh yeah it's gonna be dope, so I don't. I don't know how many guest stars he's gonna have. Obviously we know scissors gonna be a part of it, but I don't know who else he has up his sleeve that he's gonna bring out.
Speaker 1:I don't know, do you think scissors gonna get like a song to herself? I think she might. I think she might grab one she might do a.
Speaker 2:She might do a. What's the song called? Oh good days I can see her, slowing it down for her slowing it, slowing it down. Because that was a popular song for her. She might do snooze, man, snooze. But that's too slow though, yeah, yeah, she may do that. That's a belt in here? Yeah, she might.
Speaker 1:Yeah, man, I'm so excited.
Speaker 2:I am too. It's good to talk about these things because it's the unknown, we don't know what he gonna do. We just kind of like making assumptions and guesses. But like, I think, I think it's gonna be a really good show and and kendrick always has to make a political statement and and with the state of the world that we're in now, he could do that. I don't know. And then, of course, they're going on tour afterwards, so it's gonna be crazy. I don, I don't know. Whatever he does, it's going to be crazy. I'm going to be glued to the TV Like I'm not going to lie, like it's going to be good.
Speaker 1:It's going to be good, and shout out to my Aunt, jan, because she always puts together a bomb ass. Super Bowl party.
Speaker 3:Does.
Speaker 1:Man like there's games you can win money sure she does something on one of her games, that she got something about Kendrick Lamar which song he performed first, stuff like that. So I'm about to get with her man, but shout out to my AJ man like it's going down at her house on Sunday. I cannot wait, it's just going to be up, man. And before we get out of here, man, I have to say that GNX album is hella fire it's fire.
Speaker 1:I honestly Good Kid Mad City is one for me, gnx I think GNX may be coming at two for me and then the damn album is coming at three for me. I think two and three is debatable because, damn, I loved the damn album and that was a surprise album too, I believe.
Speaker 2:Damn, yeah, uh-huh, yeah. I remember when that job, I'm like is this how kids are coming for real?
Speaker 1:like what is this? That was hard. I remember that that was hard that was back in like 2017, 2018, something like that we went to the concert yeah, we did in houston yep, age time stand up, but like we had a man, look, I'm just looking forward to it. I'm looking forward to it, so I'm looking forward to see what she gonna do, and cause she just came up on some Grammys too this past Sunday so it's gonna be lit man.
Speaker 2:I've been listening to nothing but Kendrick Lamar, and that's what I continue. That's what I'm gonna continue to do for the rest of the week, until we get to the bowl so it's going down alright, y'all.
Speaker 1:I think that's a wrap on our bonus episode for the Super Bowl. I hope y'all enjoyed it just as much as we enjoyed recording it for you all. And, like we said, we got the Chiefs winning the Super Bowl. We gonna be tuned in to Kendrick Lamar. It's just gonna go down. It's gonna be crazy. Any last words you got for them, vils.
Speaker 2:Nah, man, it just, you know, feels good to be back recording another episode and yeah, like she said, we're going to see. We're going to see on Sunday.
Speaker 1:We're going to see All right, let's get out of here like this. It's the one and only Lise.
Speaker 2:And it's your girl, Vels, aka Velly Vell, if that's what you want to call me.
Speaker 1:And together we are.
Speaker 2:Locked In. Sports Peace. I like sports, and that's it you.
